The gear-shifter solenoid or brakelight switch has failed.

To check the brakelight switch, start the car and step on the brake. If the brakelights don't come on, the switch is faulty. You'll find the switch under the dashboard above the brake pedal.

If the brakelights came on, your shifter solenoid is probably bad. In this case, here's a quick-and-dirty fix to get you moving...

Look for a small plastic cover next to the gear shift. Pop this off with a fingernail or small flat screwdriver. There will be a hole beneath the cover. Push a small screwdwiver down that hole untill you feel some resistance. You should now be able to shift out of park.

Be warned...this trick allows a shift even without touching the brake. So get the solenoid fixed as soon as you can.

Good luck !

Yes it is. But first look for the little plastic cover near the shift and stick a screwdriver in the hole underneath. This will manually push the solenoid and allow you to shift.

Did you check the brakelights yet ?

Okay...have her or someone check the brakelights first. If they don't light up when you hit the brake, the brakelight switch is faulty, NOT the solenoid.

Look under the dash and you'll see the switch above the brake pedal. If the switch is loose, tighten it and that may solve your problem. Otherwise, replace the switch.

If the brakelights do work, then it IS the solenoid. In this case, try the quick-fix posted above.

What does a transmission sensor do?

If you can't get the shifter out of park, it could be the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid.

this is called park lock out.
most cars need the brake depressed.
if the brake switch fails, no shifts.
many cars have a console (hidden) bypass.
ever consider reading the operators guide in the glove box.?

My shifter got locked i hav a 2006 forenza

Most newer cars have a "shift interlock" on them so you can't shift out of PARK unless you are pressing the brake pedal. It is usually a switch attatched to the brake pedal under the dash. If this switch goes bad, you won't be able to shift out of PARK.

Gear shift sticks in park on suzuki forenza 2006

You may want to check the gear lock mechanism. This is the one that prevents you from moving from park when you accidentally hit the lever. If that checks out ok, you may want to inspect the linkages of the shifter to the transmission.
