Question about 2006 Honda Accord

Clutch pressure Last week my clutch pedal lightened, and at first had a slight gravel-like feel at the top and bottom. It still shifts fine. The fluid is lower than full, but well within the min and max parameters.

Hi there. Sounds like your clutch pressure plate has broken and whilst the clutch feels lighter, under load, especialy when the car is heavily loaded, I think that you will find the clutch will begin slipping. My advice is to have the clutch pressure plate replaced and at the same time replace the clutch plate and most likely the clutch release bearing too. You could keep running the car, but if the broken pressure plate part falls out, you could have an even more expensive repair. The quicker you have the clutch stripped down and repaired the better. 1996 Mazda MX6 Clutch pedal has no push back from floor but still shifts


I am not a mazda guy but it sounds like the pressure plate is bad. Have you check the clutch linkage to be sure something did not slip or break. If so I would be looking at the clutch pressure plate.

Hi i drive a 03 ford transit when you press the clutch pedal it feels fine but you cant select gears only 5 gear when you try to get first gear its like the clutch is not being pressed


Your clutch disc may be worn out, when the disc wears completely down the pressure plate goes over center and that causes the clutch to slightly engage when the pedal is depressed and you grind gears, most clutches last about 75000 miles.

2004 dodge ram 1500 with the 3.7L V6 5 speed manual. The truck drives and shifts fine but after driving for a while it won't be able to shift into or out of any gear.


the reason for hard shifting and selection when running is that the clutch shaft ( input shaft) is still turning even though the clutch pressure plate is released
it can be from oil/grease on the fly wheel /pressure plate face causing it to stick when hot
it may be from sticking clutch plate on the splines binding when hot
or it could be a dry spigot bush or failed bearing in the end of the crankshaft that positions the clutch shaft
check the pedal height adjustment and the position it is from the floor when starting to engage
It may be adjustment under the dash

Hey.This is just a long shot.The throwout bearing may be sticking.Its attached to the clutch fork and contacts the pressure plate.It slides along a shaft and the shaft may me sticking up,holding the bearing in the wrong spot.I have seen it happen.A VERY SMALL squirt of wd40 can fix it.You have to know where to put it.Not so much it gets on the clutch plate.Ask a friend or anyone that may know before you do it.This is your 1st option before you have to do any mechanical work on the car.It costs NOTHING.Check it before a workshop rips you off.Hope this helps you

Clutch pedal sticks to the floor; the brake reservoir was low


I believe your pressure plate is broken and at a minimum will have to be replaced along with the clutch disk.

this sounds like the clutch slave is goin out, this unit is on the outside of the transmission. Possibly losing pressure!! Your transmission does not use transmission fluid, but instead gear oil. Have the following checked:
1. Clutch Slave (possibly worn)-this will cause soft or hard clutch pedal feel, slipping clutch, unintended clutch release, hard gear engagement, no/insufficient clutch movement.

*2. Clutch pedal Mounting Plate (possibly cracked)-this will cause improper gear engagement, hard gear engagement, soft pedal feel, insufficient clutch movement.

*this plate is located above the clutch pedal itself, apply pressure on the pedal with one hand while inspecting the plate for fatigue cracks(use a bright flashlight). This is very common on these models. This problem will eventually get worst and most mechanics never figure this out.

Cannot get into any gear


check make sure the clutch master cylinder working properly along with slave cylinder. both master and slave don't have to leak fluid to be faulty, the rubber seal inside the unit could be worned and when apply pressure the fluid blow by or seep between the rubber seal causing the the unit not to work properly giving you a weak feel and pressure at the pedal. both unit have to work properly in sync. if one are weak you will have the same issue. clutch should have a good tight feel not sloppy or weak. pressure plate will also play important role, weak pressure plate will also give you a weak pressure feedback from the foot pedal and also will cause the synchronizer in the transmission not to engage and work properly. check this basic item fist before messing with your tranny. clutch master and slave cyc are fairly cheap to fix and replace.
