Question about 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe
I have a 99 tahoe 2dr 4wd 5.7l V8 w/110,000 miles. Various systems failed recently at the same time. The anti lock brakes pulse and shutter. The automatic transmission shifts randomly at any speed. The variable assist power steering randomly adds boost at high speed and not enough boost at low speed. The speedometer needle moves wildly at any speed. The truck had a remanufactured engine installed at about 100.000 miles. I suspect the problem in either the ECM or the vehicle speed sensor both are original. I am the original owner and the truck has been in a dry desert climate all it's life.
Thanks for any help you can give me in diagnosing the problem
Look for a broken or missing ground strap between the engine and the vehicle frame.
If you can't find it - or suspect it is damaged - temporarily connect a heavy gage wire or wire braid between a metal part of the engine and the NEGATIVE battery terminal. Take it for a spin to see if this helps.
Good luck !
