Bulbs work just like a fuse. When old they just short out like a weak fuse bowing out. Since the lights do not have a fuse you need to replace the headlamp switch for this switch controls the tail lamps. The directionals are controlled by the directional switch, and the brakes are controlled by a brake light switch. Those have fuses for they have switches. Headlight switches do not have a fuse
Give me a bit I can look in my hanes manual and see if their is a actuator at the foot pedal that may be bad. I have a 86 Iroc z28 that i have been toying with for a few years so i am fluent with the car. I will look and see if their is anything online to download
