Ml430 acts likes it want to stall out when i stop

When i put the car in park and go to drive its very hard to get in gear the truck jerks then when in gear it runs so smooth

SOURCE: engine stalls at stop lights and stop signs

sounds like the torque converter lock up might not be disengaging. You might also want to check for engine vacuum leaks. Does engine idle smoothly when in park or nuetral ? if the idle is good I would suspect torque converter problem.

check fuel pressure

I had a similar problem with my 1997 F250 only with 1st & 2nd gear. At the same time the ABS light was on and the speedometer was acting eratic. In my case it was a bad speed sensor on the rear differential. About $30.00 and took me less than 15 minutes to fix.

I'm assuming you have already looked at the trans for any loose or worn electrical or vacuum lines and connections.

SOURCE: Engine stalls when shifting into any drive gear.

It sounds like your idle air control valve could be going out on you.  The extra stress from being in gear can cause the car to stall out if the IAC valve isn't opperating properly.  The IAC is attached to the throttle body and is normally held on by two screws.  IAC valves are relatively cheap from AutoZone and easy to replace.  That would be my best guess based on your description.  Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa!

If that happens after you drove at speeds over 60km/h, there is a good chance that the lock up torque converter of your transmission does not disengage; to test that, drive the car at normal highway speed for a little while and put the gear selector in NEUTRAL before you stop. If the engine keeps on running, there's your problem

I have a Chrysler Pacifica had the axles replace acts like it does not want to run in park is fineand in gear it jerks acts like it wants to cut off does replacing the axle cause this action


Who, or where were the axles replaced? If they were not properly installed, what you are saying could happen. The inner CV splines may not engaging properly, or the inner tri-pot joint may have been overextended and come apart. Have a trusted repair shop check into it.

Why Engine stalls when put in gear


There are a number of reasons that this could happen. If there is no "Check Engine" light involved, then it may be difficult to assess. When you drop it into gear, does it stop violently, with a jerk, or does it sort of falter, stumble, and stall? It it stops with a jerk, then you may have a problem in the transmission with the overdrive lock-up. If it simply stumbles and stalls, then its more likely and engine management issue. It seems as though you should have some sort of Check Engine issue if it is the latter, though.

My truck shifts real hard and now shakes when I stop


If you have been driving the vehicle even 10 miles or more
with a transmission that acts up,slips,bangs,etc,& have not
changed the fluid every 3 years since it was new,then yes, it
most likely has to be rebuilt,could have been prevented

1999 nissan pathfinder jerks and stall when slowing down or at red light


YOU might find its due to the Auto Matic gear box as when you slow down at the lights or brake hard to stop the auto box should brake free at about 600rpm as to allow the car to stop but the engine to keep idling,but the drive bands in the gearbox and the pump which operate them are not braking free so its like, in a Manual g/box driving and stopping but leaving the clutch pedal and not pushing it in so the car stalls,
SO you may find that the next time you are driving it and come to the lights just try putting it in NEUTRAL gear before you stop and try, if it ok then get the g/box serviced . RON

make sure your idle air control motor is working, if you give and hold gas pedal a little will it stay running in drive.

Acts like it is in neutral when shifted into Drive AND when on the road it resists changing gears smoothly.


check the linkage from gearstick to gearbox .if ok .check and change transmission fluid
