First make sure that all the steering wheel assembly is fitted as it should be. otherwise u can stretch the springs a bit and this will increase the gap

Good luck

2006 F250 TRUCK HORN GOES OFF BY ITSELF

Look for a chaffed wire on the wires that go up the steering column to the horn switch especially where they connect under the dash. The horn button itself may be the culprit. Also, check the antitheft system when you lock the doors. The body control module might be going nuts too.

Horn honks itself

the horn is live and the switch grounds the connection to make it work. Sounds like your boss is grounding.

2002 impala horn goes off by itself

Highly suspicious the problem is in your horn button.
And that might be on your steering wheel.
And that is where your Air Bag is. And that might mean you have air bag/horn button problems !!!!
Check with some good junk yards or body shops and see if you can find out how to change the horn button/air bag.
I just learned how 2 weeks ago, and it was really easy.
In my town, good used airbag/horn buttons go for $ 25.
Be blessed.

2004 Chevy Tahoe, Horn doesn't work.

The button on you steering wheel is the problem, try to open it up and pull the spring just a little bit. I think you have used it too much ;)

Horn doesn't work

it could be a fuse but most likely its the horn itself were the diaphram has dried out and not vibrating.with someone pushing on the horn button you can tap on the horn to see if it might make a noise.if it does then it needs to be replaced.you can also check for power to the horn with a test light and if it lights up when someone pushes on the button.if it does and the horns not working then again the horn needs replacing.there is a horn relay in the system but it rarely goes bad as well as the horn button rarely goes bad.

Horn does not work, horn buttons are good, horn contact in steering cololm is good, battery level is good, can't find a fuse in fuse box for horn.

if you take a test light and test all the fuses in the fuse box and if they are good then when pushing on the horn button you can usually hear the horn relay working(click).if it does then you need to check the horn itself.take a wire and run it from the battery positive cable and connect it to were the horn wire connects to the horn,it should blow(make sure of a good connection),if it does then it could be a dirty connection at the horn.if it doesn`t blow then the horn needs replacing.you can also use the test light and test for power at the horn wire at the horn itself to see if the horn is being feed power from the horn button to the horn.

My horn on my Buick Skylark will not work. It blows every horn fuse we replace. How can I get it to work?

You may have a short circuit in your horn button causing the
fuse to blow when you press the button or in the horn itself.

1. Locate the horn under the hood normally in the front of
the engine compartment.
2. Once you locate the horn, disconnect the wire from the
horn.
3. connect a VOM (Volt Ohm meter) to the horn's wire.
plus(+) side to the wire and negative (-) side to ground
or some metal part on the car.
4, set the VOM to dc voltage and have someone press the
horn button. You should read 12 volts on the VOM, if
not you have a short in the horn button, if you do mread 12 volts
you have a short in the horn. Replace the horn....

If you punch the steering wheel horn pad and it goes off, it leads me to believe that it is the horn pad or a short in the wiring going to the horn pad. You may be jarring the wheel enough to stop the short. Next time it happens press firmly without jarring on the horn pad and see what happens. If it stops it could be the button pad. These can be tough to find. Good luck!
