The windsheild wiper relay might be stuck or broken. Try tapping it with something or replace it. Could also be the the switch (lever that you control the wipers with) i hope this helps and good luck with diagnosing your problem.

We had the same problem and sometimes they wouldn't turn off. The intermittent wipers were random. We replaced the wiper motor. Be sure to get the motor with two balls on the wiper shaft (one for each wiper arm). If you can't find it, you'll have to change the part out on the new motor. Keep the wiper arms in the same location on removal, or it will jam and you'll have to start over.

ford has had a lot of problems with wiper circuits and switches.there is a circuit board that is supposed to run the wipers until they return to home position. this is probably failing and needs replaced. maybe talk to dealer to see if warrantee was extended due to problems they are having. hope this helps if so please reply and good luck
