You need to replace the tumble set, do you have more tha keys hanging from it? a lock smith will do it for less that $20.00.

What make vehicle ? Most all vehicles have a safety system .Don't try an force anything you'll break it !
Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator: If the vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission and a floor mounted console gear shift, it has an ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator purpose is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in any position other than PARK and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of an ignition lock cylinder control actuator, and a park position switch that is located in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column. They also have this on column mounted shifters !

When I turn off engine off key will not come out

If it's an automatic transmission. Jiggle the shifter while in park and it should release.

I can't get the key out of the ignition switch. It turns to the on position, but will not go to the Off position.

You have to remove up your gear shift Knob and solve the problem of the micro switch on park position, I have same problem but I dont have time to solve it,

My key is stuck in the ignition. Won't lock.

do not try to put the key in lock. if it will still start, then you will be able to replace the lock cylinder. if you rotate it to lock then you might not get it to turn again. as for the gear selector, there is a release on the shifter. some have a slot to stick a key and push down as you change gears. others you may have to take apart the console, and you will see the release lever.

Can't remove ignition key. I can start it, drive it, park it (and make sure the shift lever is in park), turn the car off, but the Key will not go past the ACC position when I turn it counter clockwise.

either you have a problem with the cable that connects the gear lever to the ignition or the steering lock has broke inside. But i seem to think that its more likely to be the cable

I have a 2006 aveo that won't release the key from the ignition with out some major jiggling

My '06 needed a new multi-control unit associated with the gear selector. mine was worse though, couldn't remove the keay at all, and couldn't shift from park either.
