Question about 2001 Volkswagen Passat
Disconnect the reverse gear switch located at the gearbox. It's a two pin Connector with two wires, one of them is BROWN, and th other BROWN with BLUE stripe along. Make a short connection between those two wires, easiest way is to do it by usin simple paper clip. Turn the ignition IGN to ON position. and check the reverse lights. If Lights are on, than you need to replace the switch that you just disconnected as it's faulty.
