Just bought jeep 92 wrangler has test pipe insted of cad convert do i need to put in o2 sensors
Most cars will not pass emissions with out them. some places may also want the catalectic convertor on the car.

O2 sensors are tricky. sometimes like anything else they fail. many times though the exhaust mixture they encounter is out of their range and that shows up as a failure.since you seem to have no other problems , I would go ahead and change them, but don't be disappointed if the code shows up again (at least you know it's not the sensors.) I don't like using the process of elimination when doing repairs but sometimes you must.

This may not be your MAP but your Catlettic Converter. I also own a 92 Wrangler and had some of the same issues. My issue was actually a couple of things but they all came from a crack in my exhaust headder.
You may want to check your exhaust headder for cracks. If there is even a small one, (which are VERY common w/ YJ's) than your O2 sensor is thinking that the engine is running too lean. Therefor telling the fuel pump and injectors to dump more fuel into the engine. Well, truth is your not running too lean, in fact, you begin running too ritch.
The unburned fuel that is now comming out through your exhaust collects on the porslen screen inside your catalettic converter where it burns off, causing the screen to melt together. Resulting in a clogged cat.
The only way to fix this is to replace the ehaust headder (welding the crack will not work) and replacing the cat. This would explane your loss in gas mileage and power, due to over back pressure. The ticking sounds like the back pressure working on your valves.
Hopefully I'm wrong and this is not your issue because it is a very expencive repare. You're looking at around 350.00 to 500.00 just for a good headder and atleast 250.00 for the cat. However, an easy way to test this is to take a flash light and have a good look at your headder anywhere there are joints where pipes come together. Look for black, ashy spots above and around the joint. If you see this anywhere then I hate to tell you but this mite just be your problem.

Just follow the exhaust pipe from the engine and the first one is located just below the exhaust manifold,The second is just in front of the catalytic converter.

wall5552: there were two engines used in 1992 Jeep Wranglers.
A 2.5 liter and a 4.0 liter. HOWEVER>>>> The location for the crank angle sensor is the same for both.
It is located on the bell housing up near the front at about the 10:00 PM position.
The Cam position sensor is located in the Distributor on both engines as well.

P0601 is an internal PCM failure. It is not passing one of it's self-tests and the code sets. The only fix for this code is to replace the PCM.

Step2
Be patient with the bolts, as they are often hard to remove due to size
and awkward placement. You may have to drill or saw bolts to remove
them. With this in mind, you should pick up new bolts, nuts and seals
for your replacement project.
Step3
Buy a catalytic converter specific to your jeep to avoid extra work. A
generic part must be welded into the jeep, while a vehicle-specific
model comes pre-welded to the proper pipes for easy bolt-on
installation.
Step4
Remove the 02 sensor (with an O2 wrench) before unbolting the catalytic
converter. Then, you should remove the pipe connecting the sensor to
the converter. Depending on your exhaust system, you may have to remove
more pipes before you unbolt the converter from the muffler.
Step5
Replace the old catalytic converter with a new one. This should be the
easy part, as you simply bolt the new part in place.
Step6
Reattach the exhaust pipes
and 02 sensor, and the basic job is done. Make sure you replace any
cracked or rusty pipes while you have the exhaust system apart.
