Sounds like the transmission fluid could be low or transmission is shot. Check fluid first

I do not really know, but try checking that the transmission
is not overflowed or low on transmission fluid.

SOURCE: engine stalls

I would start by checking your IAC (idle air control) valve. It is usually located within or near the throttle body. The inpection procedure varies across vehicle makes and years, I would consult a Chilton's (or similar) repair manual for the exact procedure. If such a book is unavailable, you can remove the IAC and check for excess buildup of carbon or other debris. Let me know what you find!

2005 Acura MDX leaked transmission fluid out of breather oil on top of engine

oil out of the breather is an indictation of excessive oil
if it drives as would be expected, there is nothing wrong with the transmission so move away from the mechaic who stated that ir was "fried"
at 60 mph the rpms should be in the vicinity of 3000-3200 rpms and go up about 250 rpms for every 10mph over that
have the fault codes read or take it to an accredited transmission professional shop and have the bands and clutches adjusted

Transmissions reverse ànd high gear 95jeep grand cherokee

I can't decode that. the ZJ jeep 95
check levels yet?, the correct way ,not using engine oil check way>?!
the A/t is a very complex system. with electronic controls(not all)
its seems simple to a driver but is not, in truth. not at all.
and we'd need full set of symptoms, good and bad, or ugly
to guess. (wildly) both parked tests, and driving tests...

what do reverse or high not do. does wrong, name it?
does transmission, work hot cold or fail both modes.
1: does the transmission pass the stall tests. parked. hot and cold
as stated in the SM, service man.
does the stall test slip?>
if yes, this is all we need. just the parked car stall tests
if it passes that tests in Drive and REV>
then it must be a driving test , it fails only when driven at speed
so does it fail to shift all gears.
does it FLARE between gears (slips or has what is called false neutrals)
does it skip gears, 1,3,4,? like that
does it fail only up shifting or down or both.
all those complex symptoms are in the SM
the 42/44RE box.

What do I do to get my 99 Durango 5.9l to stop stalling when I put it in reverse?

This sounds like the transmission is seizing or locking up in reverse.

The car drives when you come 2 a stop and take off again it rears up and wont go until u turn it off and it goes again

are you saying , it stalls (RPM on dash goes to 0)
or RPMs are below 800(hot and is wrong) ?
or that all the above is ok, but I have lost engine power?
if A/T transmission slip, (RPM goes way to high and MPG dont track RPM correctly)
is car an A/T
when asking for help , stated engine size and transmission options.
we dont know. and Civic sub model name is good to... we are blind here.

Transmission

A/T or M/T (auto or stick ,we dont know)
n moving in drive, reverse or Low or 1? or 2? (me too lazy to look what tranny you have)
it can be 2 things
1: lack of engine power
2: bad clutch or transmission

who do we tell? easy
you step on gas , RPM goes way high and MPH dont. (slips)
tranny slip.
you step on gas, RPM tracks with MPH, good ,
you then do the 5second max. tranny stall test in every car FSM made. and see the stall speed, with brakes hard set.
too high is tranny slip
way to low, engine power POOR.

alldata.com has all this on tranny. stall speed.
the FSM turn to on car A/T service, see STALL test.
bingo.
or youtube the vast number of videos on topic, stall.

wont move at all ,can be :
brake drag (passes stall test)
but first , the tests are, for bad engine or trans,
pick the one it is , state so, and we can go much farther.

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

1981 chevy truck that will only go in reverse, other gears will move it, but very slowly and at very high RPMs. Could this be torque converter, drivebands in transmission, or something else?

Transmission slipping, this is not the torque convertor, you would not even have reverse, You can adjust the band, when you adjust the band in doing so it holds the transmission drum and there it transfers power,So the transmission band is worth your try, if it fails you need a transmission
