You need to take it to a dealership and have them hook up a Tech 2 to see if you need a new torque converter or a TCC solenoid for example.

How to fix 98 buick lesabre code po742

Hi, The PO742 is a transmission code representing the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) release switch. To throw this code, there is either an electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic issue.

If you are extremely mechanically inclined, you will need to check the TCC solenoid, verify the connections of internal wiring harness, and perform an overall diagnosis of the transmission's condition, which will require removal of the transmission.

Given that you have a 4T65-E Transmission I would highly recommend taking it to a good transmission shop, this is not a 'quick' fix issue. Good luck and Godspeed.

That's a code for Torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid-stuck on.......it's either the wiring to the solenoid or the TCC solenoid (replace it)

Po742

Trouble Code: P0742 This should be looked at by a trusted transmission shop in your area to address this problem. This sometimes does require the replacement of the torque converter itself.

Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On (4T65-E)
Possible Causes:

TCC PWM solenoid valve for the fluid exhaust is restricted TCC regulated apply valve is stuck in the TCC apply position TCC control valve is stuck in the TCC apply position TCC feed limit valve is stuck (i.e., the TCC feed limit pressure, and the TCC release pressure to be low or nonexistent) Pressure regulator valve is stuck TCC fluid circuits leaking or abnormally low/high line pressure TCC release switch circuit is shorted to ground TSB 00-07-30-007A contains a repair procedure for this code

I got an engine light code po 742 what does that mean?

The code means that the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) in your transmission is staying engaged after the computer has commanded it off. This could be caused by a sticking TCC Solenoid, By internal hydraulic pressure leakage, by a faulty Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit, or a faulty Powertrain Control Module.

If your engine has been stalling when you come to a stop - especially after getting off of the highway, then you probably have a sticking TCC Solenoid.

This really needs to be diagnosed properly to keep from spending a bunch of money on parts unneccessariily.

Car is bucking, engine light on code po742

"Torque converter clutch" solenoid is stuck open which is causing your bucking problems. The solenoid is either disconnected or faulty. if you ran over something, it may have damaged the wiring, but if not, you need to take it in for checkup.

Code po742 came up while getting smogged, van does **** on occasion. code is TTC stuck on. the van does not do it all the time. is there something i can do to help this problem> 1999 olds silhouette

TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SYSTEM STUCK ON.PROBLEM COULD BE PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE IS STUCK.OR THE TCC FLUID CIRCUITS LEAKING OR ABNORMALLY LOW HIGH LINE PRESSURE.OR THE TCC RELEASE SWITCH CIRCUIT IS SHORTED TO GROUND.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.IF TRANSMISSION FLUID LOOKS REAL DARK LOOKING AND SMELLY .CHANGE THE FLUID AND FILTER.IF THIS DONT HELP ! YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID OR INTERNAL DAMAGE INSIDE TORQUE CONVERTER.OR RESTRICTION IN OIL PASSAGES AND STOPPED UP OR BLOCKED TCC SCREEN.
