The anti-lock brake light and traction control light are illuminated. Also, the display reads, Service Stability System. The vehilce is a 1999 cadillac Deville D'elegance. I just replaced the rear brake pads. All braking functions work properly and smoothly. How do I reset the dashboard warning lights?

    Thanks

Firstly make sure u didnt break a wire while changing the pad, there are sensors on the brakes, make sure they are plugged in. Else the ABS and hydraulic pump motor electrical relays and 30 amp fuses will be replaced. In addition, the hydraulic pump motor assembly and pressure/warning switch will be inspected and, if required, replaced.

Thanks

Hi
this would indicate the alternator is bad, I would suggest to replace it,OR I would suggest to have the charging system inspected if not charging the ignition relay will not turn off the lights . If that is ok I would inspect the ignition relay and all the fuse links. check all the fuses and the fuse links in the engine compartment, I have also seen the ignition switch cause problems like this, bad connection inside the switch for the run signal.

There is a sensor on each of the front (not sure about the rear) brake calipers that indicate via the dash light when brake pads are worn down and need replacing. The wire is probably broken on one or both of the front wheel calipers. If there is enough slack in the wire you can just splice it back together with splice connectors and seal with heat shrink insulation. My '02 Passat has had it happen twice, first on the drivers side, repaired wire and light went out, then the other side broke, repaired the same way and haven't had any problems since.

2001 Silverado 2500 HD Why Rear brakes don't work after I installed new hydro-boost power booster, master cylinder, calipers, and pads. I bled master cylinder before installing, and brakes beginn

Hello Patricia,

Have you checked the master brake cylinder reservoir for brake fluid loss?

I don't suspect the master cylinder as you have replaced it... but am more suspect of a leaking brake line or fitting which should have
been discovered when you had the system bled.

The only time I ever had a rear brake problem with a 2500 series Chevrolet was due to seized rear brake caliper guide pins...as your calipers are also new that is not your problem.

If your brake pedal feels spongy and travels to the floor board you have air in the system, a brake fluid leak or a failure in the power steering system, such as a broken hose, broken power steering pump drive belt, or failed pump, would result in a loss of pressure to both the hydro-boost and steering.

Brake lights will not turn off on 1997 Buick Le Sabre Cutom

did you try to reset your brake switch at the brake pedal under dash, or replace it, sounds like through the process of bleeding brakes you might of broken it or bumped it loose causing it to be on, follow brake pedal up under dash and you should find it

Have you had anyone try to clean and adjust the rear brakes? You will need a shop to scan the van for ABS codes first to cure the ABS light.
