Question about 1999 Volkswagen Passat
Windows will not operate from drivers or passengers door. Back windows will work as normal from rear seats. Leak on floor in passenger seat and replaced control box which is located in floor space on front pax side.Checked fuses and all seem ok but cannot find a soloution to problem. Internal lights are not working either.Had just replaced window winders on both front doors. The power is just not getting to switch on drivers door. Is it possible that a wire in the loom feeding control box as mentioned has burned out or how do I find this.
Hi there. You are not going to believe this, but the sister brand SEAT had this most interesting problem. Because of a fuel tank breather problem, fuel/gas was being forced up and out the fuel tank and along the length of the wiring loom and it caused all sorts of electrical problems. A new front to rear wiring loom had to be fitted after having sorted the fuel tank breather problem. Firstly, check that the fuel tank breather system is working properly - make sure that the right petrol/gas tank cap is fitted for example. It's a shot in the dark, but worth mentioning. Best regards, Scottech.
