My 2000 Nissan xterra started bucking, so I replaced the distributor, cap, wires and plugs, now it only bucks after 55mph.

if its the whole car doing it not just the motor check the tires. if tires are out of balance or warped then typical they will buck or jump from 50-60 maybe 65 mph

2003 nissan xterra engine stalled at red light. unable to start.

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

You may have a faulty coil pack. If the coil pack is faulty it tends not to give current to the plugs. It is located at the side of the engine where the spark plug wires are connected. Once you removed the cap you will gain access to the coil pack. You will need to pull it out and replace it with the new one.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2005 explorer 4.0 eng Service eng. soon light came on took it to autozone. The computer said #5 cylinder missfiring. Put new plugs & wires didn't make a difference. Checked compression this morning...

Changeout the rotor button and cap. the cap has carbon pins under there and wear down from the rotor button. The rotor button sits on the distributor which is easily pulled off. When removing these be sure the plug wires stay in order, Also, use di-electic grease on the plug wires, prevents moisture getting there and run away sparks. CAP/ROTOR button $20 approx.

a simple tune up should do it plugs wires cap and rotor when it rains moisture must be getting under the distributor cap and causeing it to skip or stumble and stall

It act like its going to stall out and jerks when you drive it

This is generally a condition of a mis-fire, most likely in the ignition system. You may want to look in to changing your plug wires and plugs. (Also your cap and rotor if it has them and is not a Distributorless Ignition System.)

If in doubt, you may want to take your vehicle to a shop where they can perform an engine diagnostics test on it. But if these are the original ignition parts on your Xterra, it's time for a tune-up anyway. You'll thank yourself for the amount of fuel you'll save, too! :)

I hope this helps and please let me know if I can be of further assistance. :)

1995 Alitma ran rough and stalled

Its just fouled some plugs again. Need an overhaul. If you just put a valve job on it it will just put more stress on the rings and will need it anyway. Not much you can do except change plugs all the time!
God Bless Greg
