I attempted to start my 2005 jaguar x-type, won't start made a clicking noise, dash board lights came on. This happen last week after about 5 minutes of sitting it started.

Mine has done the same thing a couple of times now. We have to jump the battery, but I don't think that's the problem. It slmost seems like the security system locks up.

Won't start or jump

I just had this problem last week. The starter is definitely shot. Don't take it in to Nissan though. They will charge you at least 500 bucks for the starter and probably another 300-500 for labor.
Just call a couple shops and get a quote. I got mine replaced for 400 bucks and thats part and labor.

Starter problems

I am not sure where the starter is either but I also have starting issues with my car. I was told it is the battery and I often need a jump start but from what notice when getting a jump, the battery cables need to be connected properly for the battery to charge. It is easy to connect the red to red but when making the connection from black to the car is tricky and I can only tell that I have it connected when the lights get bright and the slightest wind and it sparks and is no longer connected. Mine also clicks when it doesnt have enough power to start the engin so I thought I'd let you know to be sure its really getting a charge when you connect jumper cables. If only the battery terminals were easier to acces and we didnt have to use the frame of the car as a ground (Black( I think it would be easier to jump for little old ladies like my mom. Good luck with your starting issue.

2001 dodge ram won't start. It will start when it is jumped with cables. Usually happens when it is cold. Does not do this much when it is warm. Today, it would not start when jumped with cables.
