2001 Nissan Xterra Camshaft Position Sensor Location.

the camshaft sensor is located into distribuitor.......The camshaft position sensor is a basic component of the engine control system. It monitors engine speed and piston position. These input signals to the ECMare used to control fuel injection, ignition timing and other functions.

The camshaft position sensor has a rotor plate and a wave-forming circuit. The rotor plate has 360 slits for a 1° (POS) signal and 6 slits for a 120° (REF) signal. The wave-forming circuit consists of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) and photo diodes.

The rotor plate is positioned between the LED and the photo diode. The LED transmits light to the photo diode. As the rotor plate turns, the slits cut the light to generate rough-shaped pulses. These pulses are converted into on-off signals by the wave-forming circuit and sent to the ECM.

The distributor is not repairable and must be replaced as an assembly except distributor cap and rotor head.

NOTE: The rotor screw which secures the distributor rotor head to the distributor shaft must be torqued properly.

How do i use the 2002 nissan xterra cruise control?

Below is the procedure on how to operate the cruise control if it's is working also this is for the factory cruise control operation and not an aftermarket version added on to the vehicle. This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you don't and would like a copy, you can email me at with your make, model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. Don't worry no cost. I hope this helps and good luck.

the vdc off can result because the steering input sensor needs to be re calibrated with the nissan consult2 .
the vehicle dynamic control uses input from the abs, vehicle speed sensor, air bag sensor, yaw sensor and steering angle input sensor.
