Question about 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

1 Answer

BENZ C180 2000

Good day

I have a problem with a Mercedes year 2000 Model C180
The remote key unlocks the doors, but whenever I insert the key in the ignition, nothing happens.
I thought it might be that the remote’s batteries are flat and had it tested but the batteries are fine.and the batterie of the car is also fine
Is this an ignition or key problem?

kind regards
c louw

I think your car is not recognising your key.Sometimes the battery runs out and need replacing and if you are not lucky then you may need to contact a dealer to have the key reprogrammed..this will cost you..

Where is the trunk release

If you mean Remote trunk release, there isn't one. It's controlled by vacuum. If system works good, when you unlock the doors with the key or the inside door switch, it will unlock the trunk (if the button is in the unlock position). And vice versa.

Dead battery in locked trunk (Mercedes 1990)

Many People don't know exactly how to use the manual key attached to your remote to open the doors and trunk in case the battery is dead. All you have to do is slide the locking button in the back of your remote and pull the metal pre-cut key, then insert it in the trunk lock, turn key to the left and then push in. kawaboongha!!!

My problem is that key remote control works only very close to the car i change the battery still the same problem i don't have a spare key to test also petrol door lock and unlock not working wit

Your keyless remote is equipped with 2 different systems. There is the RF system (long range, lock control only) and the IR system (short range, locks and convenience features such as remote window roll-up and roll-down). It sounds like your RF system isn't working. The only way to test the system, that I know of, is with a Mercedes scanner. It is likely a bad remote.

Remote key does not operate doors (batteries are new)

If you simply replaced the battery in the key, it fell out of synch with the vehicle, there is a procedure in your owners manual to resynch the key to the system. If you follow the procedure, and the key does not work, the system may have become disabled, and you need to go through the provedure again to enable it and synch the key.

If that still does not get it synched, you will likely need to take it to Benz dealership to have them synchronize it. Should run around 50 bucks.

My car mercedes c200 model 1995 problem with door lock it not open with remote .my remote is ok what i do

You need to re-sync it with the car. Open the door with the blade key and insert the key in the ignition. If the ignition light then the key has been reset.
If it does not you need to resit it. Place the key into the ignition, it may not turn at all, thats ok. Press the "LOCK" button on the key 5 times in a row, about a second each press, then press and hold down the "UNLOCK" button for about 15 seconds.
This should reset the key.

2000 Mercedes ML430 Battery Change Failed

you have to resynch your remote once it looses power. the procedure is in your owner's manual. It can also be done from a scan tool but you would have to take the car to a shop. I beleive you hold the lock button and press the unlock button 5 times within 10 seconds and then put the key in the ignition but I cannot remember year for year procedures
