Question about 1997 Toyota T100

Code P0125 keeps coming up, obd system does not totally reset itself. 3 of 4 system checks do not reset even after many minutes of driving. This on a 98 T100 with 26,000 miles. I have erased the codes and disconnected the battery 2 times each.

Hi,

The p0125 code is an oxygen sensor code, the description will say something like" insufficient coolant temp for closed loop operation" the problem is not the coolant temp sensor, the problem is that the signal from the O2 sensor is not within the parameters that the computer needs to go into a closed loop condition, more than likely replacing the O2 sensor will take care of the problem but only if there is not another problem with the engine such as a misfire, vacuum leak or a mechanical problem, from what you've said this doesn't seem to be the case, so before spending a lot of time diagnosing replace the sensor.

Running an OBD-II Drive Cycle

The purpose of the OBD-II drive cycle is to run all of the onboard diagnostics. The drive cycle should be perfomed when any trouble codes are erased from the PCM or if the battery was dis-connected. Performing the drive cycle will reset the monitors so that any further trouble codes can be detected.

The OBD-II system drive cycle begins with a cold start with the coolant temperature below 120 degrees F. and the coolant and the air temperature sensors within 10 degrees of each other. (The ignition key must not be "on" or in the "Run" position until the cold start or the heated O2 sensor diagnostic might not start)

1. As soon as the vehicle starts up, idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the AC and the rear defrost on if equipped with a rear window defroster. The OBD-II will check the O2 sensor circuits, the air pump, and the EVAP purge.

2. After the two and a half minutes turn off the AC and the rear window defrost, and then accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. OBD-II checks for any ignition mis-fires, fuel trim, and canister purge.

3. Hold steady at 55 mph for three minutes. OBD-II monitors the EGR system, the air pump, the O2 sensors and the canister purge.

4. After the three minutes decelerate down to 20 mph without using the brakes or the clutch. OBD-II checks the EGR and the purge functions.

5. Accelerate back up to 55 mph at half throttle. OBD-II checks for mis-fires, fuel trim, and purge functions again.

6. Hold steady at 55 mph for five minutes. OBD-II will monitor catalytic converter efficiency, for any mis-fires, EGR function, fuel trim, O2 sensor operation, and purge functions.

7. Decelerate to a stiop without using the brakes or the clutch. OBD-II makes a final check of the EGR system and the canister purge functions.

What does that mean?

Basically that means that there is an interal fault in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). There have been many reported PCM failures on Chrysler/Dodge products although it is possible for this to happen on any vehicle. In Dodge/Chrysler products, a P0601 trouble code means that a serial communication failed inside the computer at least 6 times.

DTC P1750: Mechanical Problem in Hydraulic Control System of A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Assemblies A and B, or Problem in Hydraulic Control System

NOTE:
• Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
• Keep these replacement solenoid valves on hand:
• A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B
1. Check whether the OBD II scan tool indicates another code. Does the OBD II scan tool indicate another code? YES - Perform the troubleshooting flowchart for the indicated code(s). Recheck for code P1750 after troubleshooting. NO - Go to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Replace the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B.
4. Reset the PCM memory with the PGM Tester or by removing the BACK UP fuse in the passenger's underdash fuse/relay box for more than 10 seconds .
5. Drive the vehicle for several minutes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears in the position.
6. Recheck for code P1750. Does the OBD II scan tool indicate code P1750? YES - Replace the transmission. NO - The problem has been corrected

the infomation u were given is 100% wrong! if the light is coming on then a problem exists in the OBD 2 engine control system, there will be a fault code stored for the check engine light, who told u this the dealer??
