Thanks the problem had been resolved, I took the car for routine check at my service vendor they open the brain box and had to re-adjust one fuse. I tested the car and it seems the break is shifting very well now. I wouldn't mind your recommendations of maintenance and up keep of the car?

Check to see if your brake lamps are working and they are not you need a brake lamp switch or you have a blown fuse. if the brake lamps work you need to check the solinoid under center console panel and see if it is getting voltage or sometimes if you have spilt soda or coffee around that area it may be sticking.

go back under the panel to see if you are getting power to the solinoid and check to see when the key is on and you hit the brake if the pluger moves at the end of the solinoid.let me know if this helps.

What would cause the doors to randomly lock constant and set security

This is related to communication with the transmission shift "range selector". It is a loose connection that is causing the control module to "see" a park or Neutral and the doors unlock. This may turn on the check engine light also. It may eventuallly cause the transmission to not shift, also. You need to check the connection on the transmission and on the shift range selector (sometimes called the "PRNDL" switch. The computer automatically locks the doors when you select a gear. It is seeing no gear selected and unlocking the doors, the seeing a gear selected again, and locking the doors. You really need to get this repaired soon.

How do I relplace gear shift?

If you have a stick shift ( floor shift) remove the boot around the gear stick and the insulation on the floor to reveal the 4 bolts that hold the shift turret on to the top of the box. Undo the bolts and lift the gear lever assembly out of the gear box.

2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 s transmission won't shift out of 1st gear after being replaced.

first try to manually unlock the shift lock mechanism located on gear shift selector and if that does not work check to see if the linkage is lined up correctly with the according gears, good luck the answer lays within the time of removal and installation, just double check everything.

The key will not come out of column

When mine does that, the covering on the gear shift button is keeping the shifter from locking. Pull ur car back in gear and put it back in park making sure the gear shift button has released and ur key should come out. Mine does it all the time. The button on the gear shift has a covering on it that is probably lose and wont let the button release all the way.

Gear selector won't shift from park to reverse

Could be the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
That circuit would need to be tested.

Cannot move 2002 civic after rear end collision. Gear selector not working

There should be a shift interlock located in front or around the shifter, remove the little plastic cover and try inserting your key to diable the shift lock this is a safety feature that only lets the car go into gear with your foot depressed on the brake, sometimes doing this will enable your to shift the car into gear and reset it, hope this helps.

I'm having a problem with the gear shift button sticking on my 95 olds aurora. Any ideas of what is causing this and how to fix it?

The shift selector linkage can get sticky once in a while. Put your parking brake on and with the car off put it into 1st or 2nd gear then pull the handle off of the shifter. Remove anything in your cup holder and then you can snap off the shift console cover and get to the shift linkage beneath it. Spray lithium or silicone grease into all of the adjoining linkage rods and work it in and out. Then do the same at the top of the shift selector lever that you pulled the handle off of and push down on the top of the little plastic knob protruding from the top of it...that is how you change gears. It may just be sticky only in THAT spot but it doesn't hurt to get everything while you have it apart. Good luck let me know!

If you mean the gear selector. Fit it Into position. Remove the Cover from the gear lever, Hold the gear leaver to the left. Place a 6mm Allen Key or Small bladed screw driver in the hole on the left to lock the lever into position. Under the bonnet twist the 'Remote to the right or left(not sure which way). There is a White Pin with a spring on it. This will push in and lock. The gears should the n be set up. Tighten the lock nut on the selector 'Stub' that's on the rear of the gear box and bingo the gear leaver is set.
