I had the same problem with my sons truck. It ended up being the wiring harness between the brake pedal switch and the main harness under the dash. Out of the six wires four of them were broken clear off. I had already replaced all of the brake parts beofre finding the problem. Chris

Have you tried to find the brake pedal switch? follow the brake pedal under the dash and there should be a switch that the brake pedal presses to activate the lights when you push it in . if everything else has been checked then I suspect that the switch has moved enough to not work or it may be just bad. let me know if this was it.... hope this works

Same thing w/ my truck. Changed all bulbs, checked all fuses and relays and replaced turn signal assembly and brake pedal switch. Brake relay under hood still clicks when pedal depressed and the lights come on then turn off the further you push on brake pedal. HELP!

The only applicable fuse is 20A STOP HAZ FUSE 1. The STOP LAMP RELAY or the TURN-HAZARD SWITCH (multifunction switch) could be defective.

I have a 2001 chevy s-10 pickup that the brake lights will not go out. Brake light on cab works OK. other brake lights stay on all the time, even with engine off and key removed. Only way to get them...

HI...
Disconnect the BRAKE PEDAL POSITION Switch.
IF the lights go out.
Replace the switch.
IF not.
Check the HAZARD switch. push. ON and OFF.
Chack if you have intermitent lights.
If you Don't have, your problem is the multifuntion switch.
BUT do this test with brake switch off.

OK> I hope this can be useful on your problem.

2 out of 3 brake lights dont work

If any light lights up when you apply brakes, then the brake switch is ok. The problem could be a fuse and/or a relay. or the bulbs. Those bulbs are dual filament so one filament could be bad, for stop or tail lights.

Chevy cavalier - rear brake lights don't work. The center rear brake light does work as well as all other lights. Replaced the bulbs and fuse - no luck. From what I have been told, the turn signal...

Stop Lamp Circuit Description
The STOP HAZ fuse in the IP junction block supplies battery positive voltage to the normally open stop lamp switch. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the switch contacts close and battery positive voltage is supplied to the center mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) and both left and right stop lamp assemblies. The left stop lamp is grounded at G304 and the right stop lamp is grounded at G304.

I have a 2000 chevy 2500 and the tail lights, tag lights and brake lights have stopped working, I checked the bulbs and they are good, fuses are good. Have not replaced the brake relay under the hood. Do I...

check for power at the wires going intop the tail lights, real common that the circuit board is bad, but unlikely both at the same time. The tag, tail lights and brakes are 2 different systems. Do the turn signals work normally? if so the wiring from the turn signal switch to the brake lights is GOOD. the stop light switch had\s a ORANGE wire that should have 12V if not ck STOP LPS fuse, when brake pedal is depressed, the WHITE wire is 12V (at the stop light switch) if that is OK, the turn signal switch COULD be bad. The wiring harness plug is near the back left under the tailgate, see if that is disconnected?

My 1996 chevy cavalier has no brake lights or blinker lights. I replaced the multifunction switch on the column and the brake stop switch. Still no brake or blinker lights. Third brake light doesn't work...

take a volt meter to the sockets and see if you get any voltage. if you don't, try a continuity test on the socket and see if there are any shorts, blown fuses are good indications of shorts. if you have no voltage and no shorts, you have cut wires somewhere along the lines. i'd say check your relays but if your not getting any voltage at all, it probably won't be relays. check it anyway
hope it helps

Need a wiring diagram for a chevy s10. brake

your power starts at the brake light fuse, check with a test light, then proceed to stop light switch on brake pedal under dash, one wire will be hot when when you check it with your test light, the other won't be until you press down the brake pedal then the power flows through to the second wire,if no power to second wire replace switch,if you have power remove tail light bulbs and check for power in side socket.

The brake lights are not working

could be the wiring connection. i'm sure the three lights came from the same line from the brake switch. so if the third light is coming on, then the connection where they separated should be tyraced. or the ground of the side lights could be missing,. check the ground wire of the side lights for proper grounding.

No brake lights

First Start with the Stop lights fuse Check and make sure it's good if questionable just replace it. Check to make sure you have power going into the fuse Use a 12V test light or volt meter. If you have power going into the fuse make sure the other side of the fuse has power through the fuse. Next Go to the brake light switch and test for power going into the switch if you have power put your tester on the other wire on the brake light switch and press the brake pedal, If there is power the switch is good and if not the switch is either out of adjustment or bad.
If you have power in and out of the brake light switch with the brake pedal pressed then you have to find the breadk in the wire back to the lights Oh don't forget the bulbs and the grounds for the bulbs.
