It was running fine and just stopped running. I checked and it is getting a good spark. But is not getting any Fuel. I checked all of the Fuse's, they were all good. I can't hear the fuel pump running at all. I do hear a click there around the engine when I turn the key off and on, other then that nothing else happens, I checked the valve where you release the fuel presure and no fuel came out. the fuel reset button is ok and not poped up. where is the fuel pump relays ? and is there just one or is there more ? and where are they located ? someone told me they were 4 ? I've never heard of a vehicle ever having that many ? it has the 4.9 inline 6 cyl engine also,, PLEASE HELP <<<<< Thanks

pinning ( detonation) is caused from a combination of air/fuel mixture octane rating and timing. IT is the spontaneous combustion ( without timed spark) and occurs when the air/fuel mixture is too lean and the mixture is fired by hot points in the combustion chamber Run fault codes to check for faulty o2 sensors /MAP/MAF sensors . Try a tank of higher rated octane fuel to see it that fixes the problem. If you are using an E mix fuel then it is not as good in some cars as claimed.
Is this E-150 econoline?
Engine running, take reading at generator bat terminal, what is it? The basics, take reading across battery terminals, everything off. Take second reading at bat terminals, engine running. The second reading should be higher than the first if charging system is working. Was the charging system checked on the vehicle when the generator was checked out?
There could be a wiring circuit problem? The bat terminal at generator is hot all the time, engine running or off.
If you are getting a good stream of fuel then you need to see if there is spark. Simple enough, pull one spark plug wire and insert a screw driver into it, make for sure you are only touching the plastic or rubber handle hold part of the metal on the screw drivers shaft near something metal on the car. If it is producing a white spark you are good. If not then check the alternator, it could have a short.
Then I check the plugs. If they are bad it would make it run rough, but they would have to be really bad to keep it from starting at all.
If you have fuel and fire the only problem left is timing. For this you need a timing light. Find the timing mark on the front of the crankshaft. (lower pulley) then hook up the light and clamp to number one cylinder. If it is in time, has fuel and fire then the only answer left is that you have some major problems with the top end.
check for fuel pressure and ignition spark. Turn ignition switch to run position while listening for fuel pump to run in gas tank. If no sound then fuel pump is either not getting voltage or pump is bad. If not getting spark from plug wires then take off ignition module and have it checked at your local parts store. both problems are very common. Good luck
One place to start, Spark to ignition and power fuel are two different sources. Unless they both work off the same fuse. The fuel pump needs power to run the fuel pump, Ignition needs spark to fire the engine. Check your fuses because in my opinion it is odd that they both went out at same time. Good Luck
