Yup! I just bet you ARE having problems trying to locate the wiring for the crank sensor.

1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic is only equipped with one of two engines:
4.3L (VIN Code "W")
5.3L (VIN Code "P"

Niether
of these engines were equipped with a crankshaft position sensor.

excessive pinging is caused by either bad fuel, or a bad cam position sensor or a crank position sensor.
