find your local vw service center and see if they can plug their computer in to see if there are any codes on the cpu. there may be one for an intermitent for the turbo. i ran into the same problem last month and it was the turbo veins are sticky so occasionaly it lack power going up hills. it did not cause the check engine light to come on, but there was a code on the cpu when they checked it. if it happens again while you are driving, pull over, shut the car off for 10-30 secs then restart it and see if it makes a difference. when it happened to me i called my guy and thats what he had me do and it was like a new car after that.

hi tammy
it could be an air lock stopping the water from circulating properly i seem to recall this problem on the older VW Derby and audi 50 (same engine) there is a small bleed screw at the highest point on the cooling system that allows you to bleed this air out youll find its location in the manual
another thing to try is put a flushing agent through the system incase there are any blockages in the radiator itself
hope this helps

1.1 mm is the standard gap for a platinum tipped plug. Plugs for this car usually come pre-set but it's always worth checking before installing. Hope this helps.

You have an interlock switch on the top of the clutch pedal. Is it out of adjustment? This will prevent the starter from cranking.

CHECK MODEL NUMBER OF ONE YOU ALREADY HAVE IN CAR, OR BETTER STILL BUY A MANUAL FOR YOUR CAR AND LOOK UP ANY FUTURE PROBLEMS THAT WILL ACURE.

The starter keeps burning out & the cable from the battery to the starter at the starter heats up
THAT MEANS THAT THE STARTER IS WORKING EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS WORKING
