Before replacing anything else, try this: Unhook the battery, leave the car overnight with the battery disconnected. See if this resets the ECUs. You could also flush the trans, refill and filter change.

The next thing I would investigate is the Governor pressure sensor and/or speed sensor. Clean all electrical contacts with contact cleaner and try again, Replace if necessary.

The fact that you were working on the car makes it seem logical that something was just knocked loose but it could just be a coincidence.

Sounds as if you have unhooked a vacume line of the breather assembly. this will not let your tranmission shift properly.look for unhooked hoses and or broken hoses..

Hi...
if the car doesn't move then the speedo would not move, right? or do u mean something else? yours trans has failed or the trans digital range selector switch is bad, have a scanner put on the system and see if any trouble codes are present...

if u find ur engine stalls Disassemble and clean the carb, particularly the jets. I suspect the charge light being on is a result of your destroyed battery, which needs to be replaced. Sta-bil over the winter and a smart trickle charger will prevent the problems you are having in the future...
thank u

Car "bucking"

Are you pulling a trailer or have a heavy load - you should not drive in overdrive in those conditions. You will eventually ruin your transmission.

How do I remove the rear three spark plugs on a toyota avalon 1998

Hi, to change spark plug first remove coil over connecting clip ensuring to depress connector release. Next remove coil over retaining bolts. Remove coil over carefully directing coil toward driver side until rubber end able to flex out of sparkplug access tube. Remove sparkplug using sparkplug socket with rubber insert. Had to remove ratchet to gain enough clearance. At this point you should be able to remove sparkplug by tilting extension & socket toward drivers side of car. Then lay horizontal & remove toward passenger side of car. If unable to gain access in this manner you probably have too long an extension. Take care as not to damage spark plug coil over as they are considerably expensive.

How do I change the spark plugs for a 1998 Subaru forester?

Hello, first, you must remove the air cleaner housing Move the tube from the air cleaner and the intake on top of the engine by loosening the hose clamps at each end. It is still attached to a hose underneath but can be put out of the way

Remove the top of the air cleaner and the filter.

Remove the two 12mm bolts at each side of the bottom.

The side of the bottom is rubber gasket to the inside fender - just rotate slightly each way to loosen and pull off and put off to the side - there is still a wire attached.

Now pull off the spark plug caps on the side of the engine. This is a boxer engine which means the plugs are in a horizontal position on the sides. It is good to have a pair of spark plug pliers to do this as they are really difficult to remove. (spark plug pliers form a circle on the end when closed and are nice to grasp the caps with). Now you will need a 3/8 drive socket wrench, a 2" extension and a 5/8 deep socket Connect the extension and socket and feed it into the spark plug hole and over the spark plug. It is really deep inside. Now attach the wrench and remove the spark plug making sure you keep the tools level so as not to torque the plug side ways. Once the plug is real loose, unattached the wrench and hand loosen the plug with the extension because the wrench won't fit to remove the extension and socket attached. Remove the extension and socket and then spark plug. Put in the new plug reversing the steps.

Thanks

How do I get the spark plugs out of my 1998 ford escort to replace with new ones? Also where does the pcp Valve go?

With you hood open and you are standing in front of the car sparkplug wires need to be removed,i suggest you remove them one at a time, under each wire the sparkplug is threaded into the cylinder head, using a 5/8 sparkplug socket remove the sparkplug and replace it with new properly gapped sparkplug.Note:if you remove all sparkplug wires at once the factory wires are generally numbered 1 2 3 4 the sparkplug closesed to the passenger fender is #1 and the one clossesed to the driver's fender is #4.Standing in front of vehicle the PCV Valve is located between #3 and #4 on the backside(intake side) of the engine fitted down into a rubber hose

CHANGING SPARK PLUGS 2002 TACOMA 4 CYLINDER

Starting on the pasenger side. Remove the intake tube running from the air filter box to the throttle body and disconnect enough tubes to swing it out of the way. The sparkplugs are down below the small coils you see at the end of the sparkplug wires. With a 10mm socket remove bolt holding the coil, disconnect the plug at the top of the coil by squeezing it at the top and pulling straight off the coils.

Pull the coil straight up. there will be about a 6 inch tube that connects to the top of the spark plug when inserted. You will need a 5/8 sparkplug socket and about 2 feet of extensions to make it easy on yourself. Insert the spark plug socket and extensions down the hole you removed the coils with the tube from and remove and replace the sparkplug. Reinstall your coil onto the engine and move to the next one until you have replaced all the plugs on the passenger side.

Make sure you reconnect all the plugs to the coils, hoses to the intake tube and reinstall your intake tube. The drivers side is a little easier. Pop the spark plug wires from their plastic holders to free enough slack to be able to pull your sparkplug wires out of the block. For the plug closest to the front of the engine you will need to remove the 10mm bolt holding the ground wires to the intake manifold to be able to free enough space for removing the plug.

For the middle plug you will need to remove the 10mm bolt holding the bracket that is holding one of the throttle cables at the top of the intake manifold. For the rear plug just pop the flexible hose that runs behind the black metal bracket straight up out of its clip and push it out of the way along with any other hoses that run through this area. Pull the spark plug wire from its place by pulling straight up just like with the coils. there will also be about a 6 inch tube running down to the spark plug at the bottom of these plugs.

Remove and replace the plugs same as before. make sure you reconnect all your hoses and wires to their previous locations. Doublecheck to make sure you reconnect all the ground wires/ brackets. Also you will need to use " twin ground electrode plugs" (see sticker on front of your plastic timing belt cover? to the right of the radiator hose).
