The problem with the ford ranger got fixed, I replaced the fuel pump and filter, the two problems (hard to start and cutting gas when driving) got solved.

Thanks a lot for your recommendations, keep up the good work

Check the MAP sensor and the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. Before you try to start the engine, cycle the ignition 3 times to the run position for 10 seconds apart and then try starting the car. You may be lossing the fuel pressure prime. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to hlep.

I am glad that we are in the right direction. There is a check valve in the fuel pump that keeps the fuel pressure primed, your ranger is 11 years old and the fuel sending unit may be close to it's life time since it is electric. I always tell friend to try to keep the fuel above 1/2 cause the fuel is what keep the fuel pump cool and a clean fuel filter will keep the fuel pump from running hot too. You can look for any signs of a small leak along the fuel line, but if you can not smell fuel then it's going to be the valve in the fuel sending unit going bad. If there is an Auto Zone around your area you can ask to borrow the fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve and do a pressure drop test. Auto Zone will have the the specs to your ranger on how much and how fast the fuel pressure should drop when the ignition has been turned off. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted. Oh and might as change the fuel filter, it should help.

Why doesn't My truck start after changing the Timing belt on My 1999 Ford Ranger?

you need to pull the timing back apart pull the number one spark plug and role the motor over by hand to top dead center on the compression stroke the the mark for the crank should be lined up or almost lined up line it up perfect on its mark then set the cam to its mark install belt role over by hand 2to4 full rotation marks should line up perfect . install crank pulley fire it up for a split second shut it off and put it all back together

1999 ford ranger timing marks 2.5

One is on the crank shaft pully (for TDC). It is a line, scribed on the pully, that alligns to a pointer on the plastic timing belt cover. The second is on the cam shaft pully. It can be accessed by removing the rubber inspection plug on the timing belt cover. The third is on the auxillary shaft (oil pump) and is also accessed through an inspection plug on the timing belt cover.

On the cam and oil pump pullies, the diamond aligns to the diamond and the triangle aligns to the triangle (the pullies have both). These should be perfectly aligned when the crankshaft pully line is at 0 deg TDC. If you can't see the marks through the inspection port while the crank is at 0 TDC, you are 180 degrees out - turn the crank one more time.

My 3.0 ranger cranks but will not start is not getting fire to plugs changed coil pack cps crank senser what else could it be

Sounds to me like a bad control module. The control module controls the order of which the coil pack fires. If that is bad you get no spark. Seems to me that it should have been your second option right after replacing the coil pack.

Are you sure you put the spark plug wires back on the correct plug? obviously a new set of plugs wont hurt a car, and if this happened after you did the plugs and it never did it before, i would say check the order of your wires,

1993 ford ranger difficult to start

This double crank you say works in a couple of seconds? Try this; Turn the key on and wait a couple of seconds before cranking. It may be it takes a couple of seconds for the rail pressure to build up. The fuel pump shouldn't have to refill the fuel system but pressure recovery could be hindered by the fuel filter no passing fuelfreely enough.. Age of fuel filter?
