Question about 2005 Chevrolet Express

Overheating Express I Have a 2005 Chevy Express 3500 6.0L Overheating Always. I had it at the dealer twice and they said no problems were found. I Since in past few months replaced water pump, t-stat, and radiator. and with all that it still will get as high as 240 degrees. Far from normal at 210 degrees. i would love to now what else it could be .

    I have solved my problem. I had finally broke down and removed engine,pulled heads and found nothing visable with head gaskets or heads. I had no oil contamination. So I took heads and gaskets to my local machine shop and had them check for cracks, what they found was my number 2 cylinder was milled incorrectly by .006. They told me that my particullar heads are not common for cracks and that it must have been a factory mistake. I reassembled my engine, stuffed back in my van and fired it back up. So far no problems overheating in the last 8 months. I can tow with the a/c on and no problems now. And of course i will never get my money back for a gm mistake.

Had a similar problem with my 2003 6.0. Already had changed the water pump once a few years ago. Last week started to make a high pitched whine. Been keeping an eye on the antifreeze level since it was losing it every now and then. After first water pump, would overheat when having the AC on and under load every now and again. Last week on the way to get it inspected, it overheated. Stopped and added more water and would just make it for 5 minutes before doing it again. Temp gauge just wouldn't stop rising. Yesterday replace water pump but not thermostat. Same thing was happening. Thought it was a frozen thermostat so picked one up last night. Forums suggested I had blown head gasket so before I installed thermostat ran compression test and checked for oil in atifreeze. All okay. Did notice bubbles in the radiator neck. So heated motor up to about thermostat opeing temp and shut it down, Added more anitfreeze. Repeated that process about 6 times adding another maybe 1/2 gallon. Evidently had an air lock because after the 6th time, temp gauge dropped from about 220 to under 200. Heater started blowing hot air and had to add another quart or so of antifreeze. Been driving it all morning. Only my BMW M3 has given me problems with air pockets.

Is it acually getting hot or is it just the gauge on the dash saying so? a quality scan tool can show you what the coolant temp sensor is telling the pcm it may differ from the gauge.

    The blower in my chevy express are not heating also and I replaced thermostat, water pump, and it has a 1 year old radiator. The van keeps overheating

Try resetting the computer. Take negative battery cable off for a few minutes then replace it. Hope that fixes your problem.

My friends got an equinox is getting partial power while his vechile is off but his altenaor isnt bad. What can be the problem?

2005 equinox a/c unit blower comes on and shuts off randomly and sometimes stays off for days...but blows cold air


I have the same problem. I brought it to the local chevy dealer to run a test. The following is quoted from the chevy dealer. "The tech found that the circuit for speed#1 in the resistor was open and removed blower motor and found internal damage-will fail soon. Vehicle needs new blower motor and resistor parts and labor - $414.28." It makes sence but the lady in front of me was complaining about a $800 bill for a diagnostic that did not fix her problem. They where now asking for another $500 to take another shot at it.

We replaced the computer (serv # 12589462) on our 2005 Chevy 3500 Exp box truck. Our Diagnostic com[uter is asking for the reset code.....?


the dealer does that for you matching the computer to your vin number of your vehicle
if not done your truck will not run

Why am i overheating


Most likely have a bad intake gasket, or clogged radiator. make sure your fans are coming on also.

Radio stopped working.


The problem could be a problem with the wiring to the speakers or the speakers themselves could be blown. I had the same problem with my Camaro once. I would try to replace the speakers and see if that fixes the problem. If not then I would either rplace the wiring or take it in to have it done.

2005 cavalier cluster problem


Well I installed a brand new speed sensor, and lost my money there because it didn't make a bit of difference. So I Googled and called around, and found a used cluster for $112 bucks with shipping. One of my local guys is going to install it for me at $30 bucks. If that won't fix the problem, I guess I'll ask for a Government bail out and have it fixed at the dealer.

Chevy cavalier 2005 speedometer stuck not working


Google used speed cluster. Buy one and have it installed. I found one for $112 shipped and installed for $30 bucks. Sorry if I posted twice. Good Luck.
