Open the trunk lid...to your left and right on the back panel of the trunk (either side of the cargo net, if you have one) you will see plastic discs with large tabs on top...spin these counterclockwise until they come out (they are coming off a long-threaded stud, so there will be several revolutions)...there should be three per side...then pull the taillight assembly out of the vehicle (from the outside) to reach the plugs and replace the bulbs...the plugs are tabbed, so you will "twist & pull" to get them out of the assembly...the bulbs simply push into the socket...reverse the entire process for reinstallation

2003 Olds Alero keeps blowing fuse For dash and tail lights

Likely there's a wire loose that's shorting to the chassis. The way I troubleshoot these is to put a lightbulb in the fuse socket, and then go under the dash, and move stuff around while somebody watches the light. When it goes on, you're close to the problem. Yeah, it's a royal pain, but that's the best way I know.

Check brake light switch, generally a misadjust could cause this; this device is located on top, back side of the brake pedal.

TAIL LIGHT NO WORKING

1st: check to make sure all the GROUNDS are well connected; 2nd remove the bulb holder from the lens housing and check for,of course, burned bulb; 3rd which light? brake>turn>running lights? Replace them all if your not sure and do it for both sides, then you know it's NOT a bulb and the cheapest check to do.

Brake lights dont work. Center brake light does work. fuse ok. 2001 Olds alero

IT SEEMS THAT YOUR TAIL LIGHT BULBS ARE BLOWN, DO YOUR TURN SIGNALS FLASH FASTER THAN NORMAL ? IF SO IT IS FOR SURE THE REAR BULBS. TO REPLACE THE BULBS,LOOK IN THE TRUNK,& YOU WILL EITHER SEE SOME BLACK T HANDLE NUTS OR 10 OR 11 MM NUTS, THAT HOLD THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY IN TAKE THE NUTS OFF,& CAREFULLY PULL THE ASSEMBLY OUT ,YOU WILL SEE THE SOCKETS, SOME HAVE A LITTLE CATCH ON THEN LIKE A GALLON ANTIFREEZE JUG HAS THAT YOU HAVE TO PUSH IN,&THEN TWIST & OTHERS JUST TWIST OUT,IT SHOULD TAKE EITHER A 3157 OR 3057,BULB, BUT CHECK TO SEE FOR SURE AT THE AUTO PARTS WHERE YOU BUY THE BULBS.

Left and right brake light doesn't work but center lights does

check behind the brake peadle for a little button that pushes in and out when the peadle is pressed(this is your brake light switch) some cars have more than one of theese. manualy let the button out if the light works the switch is good if it does not disconect the harness from the switch and take a small piece of wire and jump the two prongs on the harness if the brake lights come on then you need a brake light switch. if this doesnt work check for power at the switch. if no power you have a bad fuse if there is power and you already jumped the wires to the switch then you have a broken wire between the switch and the tail lights.

Tail/brake light bulb replacement 2004 Olds Alero

In the trunk, in the rear corners, you'll see some plastic "caps" with tabs on them, similar to wing nuts. Remove those, and the taillight comes right off the back of the car. That will allow you to replace the bulbs.
