Find ac preasure switch and install jumper,if compressor comes on it will be either low on refrigerant or faulty preasure switch.

There is most likely a problem in the ac system, that caused the ac system to shut down,it may have just got low on freon,a set of ac gauges would tell the story, and to reset it,removal of the negative battery cable for 20 seconds and then put back on will reset it to make it come back on,but check the low pressure switch located on the large ac line to make sure it has not gone bad,and before removing the battery cable, check to make sure it will not erase the computer memory first,if you have had the battery disconnected before, and had no problem ,then it will be ok,but if you have not had the battery disconnected before, then call the dealer first,if this was helpful, please rate, thank you.

Ford Ranger 1994 - AC stopped working - AC system pressure way hi

There is a low side pressure switch on the dryer, remove the plug in connector and use a wire to connect the two circuits together on the plug,if the ac compressor runs, and the ac cools fine, replace this switch,it just unscrews, and you will not loose any freon.

IDLE problems when I turn on the AC. Electrical power seems to fluctuates when the car is stop sign/light or other when i have the AC on. Check it the other day, started it up, disconnected the battery,...

alternator needs good battery to keep SCR in the regulator on if it is loaded it will shut down. this will happen when you try rolling window down or rear defog will load up the system. When the truck is running and battery is hooked up the vehicle should run at @700 RPM at idle and when A/C compressor is commended on it should idle up to @1000 RPM and then back down to @700 RPM when compressor cycle off again. But if the system almost stalls then the battery and alternator should be changed together, A bad battery will damage a new alternator and a bad alternator will damage a new battery.

The A/C doesnt work although its topped out.

Verify compressor operation. With it idling have the hood open and watch the compressor, and make sure the center of the wheel turns. If it doesn't then you either have a bad wire, fuse, relay, pressure switch, or compressor clutch. Check the fuse first, if its good then locate the pressure switch, most of the time its on the drier near the front behind the grill or near the fire wall at the passenger fender. Pull the connector off and there should be two pins in the connector. Take a jumper wire or even a large paper clip will work and connect them together to see if the compressor kicks on. If it does then you have a bad switch and will need to be taken to a shop that can drain and recover the AC coolant. Take it to a shop that can put the old freon back in it. And try to be in the shop when they do the work so that they can't charge you for new freon if they put the old back in. My AC doesn't work due to a bad pressure switch. And make sure you don't run it with the pressure switch bypassed, otherwise the system will blow up.

try removing the plug off the low pressure switch on the accumalator plug a paper clip into the plug and turn ac on if it comes on then your low pressure switch is bad or your low on refigerant.

Hi we have a 1.5cdi accent & when you put heater on windscreen it automatically puts air con on.Is it possible to disconnect air con all together as the car seems to go through more fuel when its on

FYI - The reason for the AC kicking in is to remove humidity from inside vehicle, which allows for faster defrost, and less build up of moisture on windows etc. This is common on all vehicles with AC. Only remedy would be to pull wire connector off compressor. Remember though, It will take longer to defrost, and try to remember to hook it back up once in a while to keep your compressor working, so it doesn't seize up from not being used.
