98 kia sephia will not start

Ok it starts, sometimes after the 100th attempt - bought a crank position sensor, still not starting

    code comes up P1800. New plugs, new coils, new alt.

Is it a stick could be your clutch switch or netural saftey switch possibly ignition switch

L have a 2003 Kia Sorento, sometimes it will just turn over but won,t crank. after a while it will start up. or l can be driving down the road and it will start poping and cut off, and won,t start.it does...


It will be a position sensor problem Check the air gap and check that the censor rotor is tight and that there is no material getting in the air gap causing a problem

on fuel rail is a tyre valve looking thing remove the dust cover and connect a gauge to this and it should read 55lbs on cranking

That Engine fuse you are replacing is the engine fuse,The nearest ground that can short that out is the oxygen heater circuit of the catalytic convertor,it may be the oxygen sensor itself,but more than likely its the harness you will have to open the harness and inspect for a rub through wire

1999 Kia Sephia (1.8 Manual) ran fine when parked then next day wouldn't start. No spark, checked coils which were fine.


Sensors can fail at any time but they mostly fail at switch off. This is because some sensors have a habit of creating a voltage spike with the reverse polarity of normal when the power supply is removed. Normally, components are fitted to protect against damage from this but sometimes, even that is not enough.. The much higher voltage of a spike will destroy most semiconductors instantly and you only find out about this when the vehicle refuses to start.. Start with the fuse panel and electrically check every fuse first. Then go through and check related sensors like the cam angle and crank angle sensors. You may have to call in a professional. However, the loss of the timing signal may cause erratic running but the engine control has very little to do with spark so suspect the igniter modules and engine sensors first..

sounds like either the teeth on the flywheel or on the starter itself are missing a few gears or the sylinoid is not ingaging the starter enough

My 2001 kia sephia wont start all the time. Just


when this happens you need to check somethings at that time to point you in the right direction, fuel press & spark , also you need to have the cam and crank sensors checked the shop should be able to find the resistance values of what they should be and then ohm yours. But the main thing is rule things out and narrow it down.
