My lexus gs 300 tries to start without the key in the ignition and the only way to stop it from trying to start is by disconnecting the battery i was told to replace the ignition switch behind the ignition cylinder and i replaced the switch but the problem still persists what could be causing the problem
Best guess is the Solinoid (on top of the Starter) is the cause.
There will be a Main cable from the battery bolted onto the Solinoid. Near this (a separate terminal) will be a much thinner wire. This supplies the current from the ign. Sw. to the Solinoid.
Disconnect it. Re-Connect the battery.
If this doesn't fix the problem, Repair the Starter Motor.
If this fixes the problem, turn the Ign. Sw. on and touch the wire back to the terminal.
If the problem is back, the problem is the Ign. Sw.
