Question about 1996 Mercury Mystique
My brake lights doesn't come on when the brakes are applied. The third light only comes on. I had a mechanic look at and he says both the bulbs and fuses are fine. When I turn on my lights, my brake lights comes on, all three. What is causing this problem?
The "multifunction switch" is bad. In the old days, this was called the turn signal switch. The brake light wiring for the two non functioning lights goes through this switch. Have your mechanic check the wiring into and out of this switch. It's in the steering column.
