Try to locate little check valve in vacuum source line, it may be faulty. Sometimes hooked up near/at brake booster. You may have to follow vacuum source through firewall to back of controls to find it. They used to install one under dash between firewall & control, but they moved it I believe, so following vacuum line, should locate it for you. If all checks out good to control, you'll have to follow them down to heater duct to locate leaky hose or malfunctioning vacuum motor.

You may already know that under full throttle acceleration you will loose manifold vacuum, that is why many systems use a vacuum accumulator. You should also check the vacuum lines that run alond the cowling, under the hood, back along the top of the fire-wall. I have seen the rubber vacuum line deteriate and leak. If you have a vacuum hand pump w/gauge you can test the operation from this point. Good luck

I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 l automatic. There is vacuum line sticking up behind the the engine with a vacuum brake hooked to it. where does that go

Not certain... just a thought... I believe Dodge uses vacuum solenoids to switch air flow from floor to vents and to defrost. Perhaps your loose line is from that solenoid. My '93 would go from defrost to floor when climbing a hill because of loss of vacuum. I hope this helps steer you to a solution.

Yes, they are exactly the same engine and tranny. Use the computer from the vehicle you are putting it in.

2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4, a/c stops blowing in the front panels and blows through the defrost when on the road. fine at start up

Sounds like you are losing vacuum to your heater controls going down the road. Check the lines for kinks, or sucking together under throttle. Possibly could be a bad mode door, but not as likely.
