Question about 1997 Honda Passport

1 Answer

I just replaced the 3.2 in my 97 Passport 4wd with another just like it. It ran fine in the other truck, but I can't get it to start in mine now. It will turn over but I don't hear the fuel pump, and I don't think it's getting any fire because I tried spraying starting fulid in it, and it still would not turn over

Yes it is. See the motor was no good in one, but the body and the frame is good, and in the other truck just the opposet, somone had rolled it, but I ran the motor changed the oil gave it a tune-up. I just made shure I wasn't going to have any problems with it. The goal was, get the motor running good swich motors and have a complete truck. Now I got it in there it will turn over but no gas, and no fire.

Did you use your old distributor or the one that came with the engine?

1998 honda passport ran outta gas.cant start it...can anyone provide step to step actions i can tak?

well if it only ran out of gas, and did not stop for some other reason, then just filling with gas and normal starting should work just fine. sometimes it does take a bit of cranking to get fuel running again.

1984 dodge van has power to the coil but not from the distributer, and it doesnt start. van ran fine until the positive post came off while driving down the road, it just died and hasnt fired back up...

Does the coil produce voltage? I know it has power to it, but is it throwing voltage? if so check the coil wire at the distributor. if power is reaching the distributor but not throwing spark from any plug wires, your problem is a bad rotor and or cap. Or bad wires.

1998 Dodge 1500 with 4.7L engine starts fine but won't idle. Yesterday it ran fine.

This symptom is classic for a dead/dying battery. Have the battery load tested. If it shows the least bit flakey, replace it.

If it is more than 5 years old I would replace it as a preventative measure.

I believe you will find the battery is your problem.

Honda Passport started, and shut off moments later. Won't start

AS long as the belt is turning properly the belt is good & has nothing to do w NO START. Double check the alarm/cutoff and all the fuses. Start w the basics. Good luck

99 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD turns over, wont fire

I had a similar problem and believe it or not it was the CAT. An easy way to test for this is to remove the O2 sensor right in front of the CAT. Once you removed it, plug it back in while unscrewed from the exhaust pipe and start up the truck. If it runs fine, the CAT is your problem. This is just a guess and it would be an easy and very cheap($0) test. You did not say if the truck was diesel or gas. Mine is gas that was exhibiting the same problem as yours...good luck!
