Question about 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
There should be a place on the intake manifold sitting on top of the engine where a radiator hose runs into your engine if you unbolt the two bolts holding it on you will find the thermostat

Follow your LOWER radiator hose to where it connects to the engine and remove and replace the housing which it connects to. The thermostat is an integral part of that housing and so you will need to replace the housing. The water inlet housing and thermostat assembly looks like this:

The crank sensor is mounted above the starter motor on the firewall side of the engine. The sensor picks up the signal direct off of the crankshaft through a machined hole in the engine block.
I have removed them without dropping the starter but learned that in most cases it is easier to drop the starter down to access it.
