Question about 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser

2006 PT Cruiser Codes P0122 TPS and P2074 MAP

The car's check engine light comes on during normal driving and will feel like it loses almost all power and then when you try to accelerate, it sputters and sometimes dies. Other times the light will come on and when you accelerate, the car will rev up to about 4500 rpm even if you floor the gas pedal. The car will shake and feels like it's going to fall apart and it's not a good situation when it dies on the interstate, which has happened several times. This cycle will last for about 1 to 3 days and will come back on, then go off, then come back on, etc. I took it to a mechanic and they read the codes P0122 TPS and P2074 MAP. What is the fix for this problem, either do it yourself or by a mechanic? What is the approximate cost associated with this problem?

Are you sure its P2074. only asking because IM having a hard time finding it. If it was P0274 that would of been a injector issue(high voltage) on cyl. #5. if i find anything else I'll contact you.

P2074-manifold Pressure/throttle Position Correlation

CORRELATION - HIGH FLOW/VACUUM LEAK

When Monitored: Engine Running, during all drive modes.
Set Condition: If vacuum drops below 1.5 Hg with engine RPM greater than 2000 RPM
at closed throttle.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

VACUUM LEAK
HIGH RESISTANCE IN MAP (K7) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN MAP (K7) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
MAP SENSOR
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K1) MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT

Check engine light comes on ?????? Did you check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ??? Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop . Your vehicle doesn't have a mass air flow sensor ,has a MAP sensor .

PT Cruiser (turbo) CK engine light comes on after acceleration


instead of cacelling the engine light , next time take it in and have the fault codes read
all you are doing is cancelling the codes but not fixing the problem

2006 pt cruiser, check engine light came on. Shortly after, gas cap light. Replaced gas cap and reset. Today bith lights came on again.


are you fueling car with key "on"? That will cause light to come on. Disconnect battery for 1 hour and this will reset "keep alive memory" and clear codes from memory. Drive car for 10 miles so computer can relearn engine parameters. It may run rough during this period.

no need to replace the throttle body , and i think that you make a test before to buy any piece . disconnect the negative battery terminal few minutes, then connnect and start engine again, drive few minutes by observing the engine, if light comes again, replace only map sensor ,good luckl

2004 Mitsubishi Colt 1.1 Engine management light & code P0122


My girlfriends car has just started with the same problem, a limp home from the garage, a sleep over night and als well next day, for a while... I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. After exhausting all other options I may attempt this replacement and will advise the results.
