Sounds like a bolt may have come off or something, check to see if there are any recalls due to steering columns

I had the exact same sound /problem, it was driving me crazy. I was looking ar the air filter for the cabin, the glove compartment the center consol everything. Dealer never heard anything. What it was in my case was the small sunglasses that I was keeping in the overhead console. aroundd certain corners ther would flop and bounce and as incredible as this sounds it made a sound like a bouncing marble with a roll effect. Until I finally put logic aside and tried it and removed everything from that overhead compartment, and the sound was gone.

Replace rack pinion

He is probably telling you the truth as most cars have around 4 turns lock to lock. The clicking sound you are hearing is the turn indicator switch under the wheel clicking as you go past the fingers that activate the lever to off position. The only thing I would check first is that the steering shaft coupling onto the pinion shaft is tight and the clamp bolt is still there. Otherwise it will be a new/reconditioned rack and pinion box

I bought a used 2006 MDX and when I turn right or left, there is a sound like coins or marbles rolling across a floor. Any idea what this is and how to fix (or remove) it? Thanks

that is the sound of bad cv joints or cv shafts. this is a simple and easy task if you are familiar with them the cv shafts are the ones that make the wheels turn and come out from the transmission to remove them you have to take the nut in the center of wheel hub , jack the car up and release the ball joints pushing the struts out of way , a little tug or pry should pull the shaft out of transmission. note it may leak a little transmission fluid . to instal simply reverse procedures and add fluid as needed.

When i press on the gas i hear a loud noise

If it sounds like a large vacuum cleaner, plugged catalytic converter. If it sounds like marbles being spun rapidly around inside a can, power steering pump fluid. If it sounds like metal dragging on metal bad bearings in alternator or water pump. If it sounds like "whirr" timing chain going bad. If it sounds like a motorcycle, bad exhaust pipe or muffler.

I hear a growling noise in the steering wheel every time I turn a corner, back up and turn the wheel, or turn into a parking space. Most of the time it is when I turn the wheel to the left. All fluids have...

Yes. Hi. the plastic trim around the base of the steering wheel and the steering column have an imperfection in one area that causes them to rub in a certain spot every time, are out of place slightly or are for some other reason making contact and creating a noise. Get right down there and turn the wheel and look for a rub. When you spot it use a sharp razor blade knife to trim it a wee bit. J.
or, you have an issue with the steering shaft somewhere.

LEXUS LS 400 STEERING DOESNT GO DOWN

I had the same problem and took the steering wheel apart on the left side where the lift motor is. There is a plastic gear that controls your lift that is stripped out. I went to the dealership and they wanted $500 for the assembly, they wouldn't sell just the gear. I went home and after I thought about it a while came up with the idea to turn the gear around backwards since the teeth on that side were in good shape. I put it back together and it has worked great ever since. This should work for you with very little effort. I do now however do not hold or apply alot of pressure to the wheel when it is lifting as this is what causes this problem in the first place. Hope this helps you. Todd

This is definitely a power steering problem. I had this same problem about a year ago. I had to get my Power Steering Rack replaced, this fixed the noise and problem. You can add power steering fluid as a temporary fix, but your problem will not permanently go away. You are probably leaking fluid out of your steering rack.

The sound that you are hearing probably happens more often when you are acclerating around a turn, right?? Does it sound like a little foreign car in reverse?? Also, the wheel may be a little stiff when first starting out.
