1999 Durango will die sometimes while driving

Has been to the dealership and no problem was found. No check engine light is on and you must allow vehicle to cool down before it will start.

Sounds like a bad starter. A bad starter won't trigger the Check Engine light and will start when cold but when it heats up, requires more power to start when it heats up. Best of luck.

Sorry, just reread your problem. Starter has no impact on the engine stalling. My apologies.

Did some research on your problem. Durango has a bad history of quitting while driving. Found 3 possible remedies:

    1. EGR valve

    2. IAC

    3. PCM

The EGR was a common fix for trucks that quit while driving at low speeds.

The PCM was the dealer fix of choice for most. Apparently the computer is bad on a lot of these trucks.

Where is the fuse box on my '99 Durango SLT 5.2?

. most likely you need to change the remote battery. It's responcable for many things working correctly. my daughters car locked on her and the alarm sounded and had to disconnect battery in her car to get alarm to stop. when a theft is in process the vehicle takes over and don't allow it to crank and the radio also stops working along with other things. so try battery first in remote.

The ingine stalls when stopping or driving. can it be the ignition starter

Ignition and starter are two different things.
It could be something in the ignition system or the fuel system.
You would need to find out if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors when the engine dies.
If the check engine light is on when the engine is running you should have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

Check for a faulty crank sensor. Sounds strange, but we found this out the hard way in the dealerships, many years ago. Following the trouble tree usually lead to pcm replacement, and it still wouldn't run.

1999 Durango,5.2L V-8 New battery installed, (4) days later battery completely dead. No lights were left on, local mechanic cannot find problem. Prior to new battery install Check ENGINE light came on...

The technician should check for a short by putting an inductive ammeter on the positive or negative cable.

If the draw is over .2 A you have a short somewhere in your car's transmission, or accessories, or something.

1999 Dodge Durango. Speedometer not working.

We had the same problem. The dealership wanted to do a 2,000 major overhaul of the rear axle. I found out there is a speed sensor that is easily replaced (it happened a few years ago but I remember the part being pretty inexpensive). Hope this helps.

Sounds right & check manual for warranty guidelines for your emission system & components, sometimes they are a little longer than 40,000 I believe.
