Question about Toyota Yaris

1 Answer

My 2008 Toyota Yaris has 30,000 miles on it. A few days ago the check engine light came on and it appeared to not start up as well as it should. The Toyota dealership scanned for the problem and replaced a sensor but that did not fix the problem. Then they checked the wiring and that did not fix the problem. Now they are replacing the computer. I have not heard back from them yet. Do you know what's going on? Is this normal for a car that is 1 year old?

ABS and Check Engine Lights on

This could be the case, Car computers don't like being started other than how it was suppose to be started, You will need an error code reader just to confirm there are no problems with the engine then you can clear any stored error codes which will turn off any lights you have on.

Yaris P/S light and Ignition

Car is covered by a 3 year warranty, return to supplying dealer before attempting any fixes yourself. Power steering is electric on these cars, I'm guessing it's something simple like the battery.

Intermittent Starting Problem

You have to determine if the problem is loss of fuel press or a los of ignition spark when the no start occurs, I suspect the fuel pump.

Maintenance required light

I just tried this and it worked!
I got it from this site:
http://lifeisafairytale.wordpress.com/2007/08/21/yaris-and-the-maintenance-required-light/

  1. open car door
  2. put key in ignition
  3. keep door open while turning key to “ON” position (not starting the car, just ‘ON’)
  4. turn the odometer to “TRIP A”
  5. hold down the odometer reset button and quickly turn the car to ‘OFF’
  6. now wait 5-10 seconds and turn the car back to “ON” while STILL holding down the button
  7. a few ——- (dashes) should appear and a countdown will begin and it will reset itself.
  8. now your light is off and you can start your car!
