Car simply will not start or fire

When quick start is sprayed in to air intake car will fire and start but will not run.

Assuming it's fuel injected,check your fuses (there is a fuse for the EFI and fuel pump). If the fuse is fine, then the issue is most likely your fuel pump (located in the fuel tank). You can change the fuel regulator (located under the air cleaner unit) but it sounds like a bad fuel pump.
If it's not fuel injected, please post back for other options.

When it does this hard start buy and keep a can of spray starting fluid in the car, spray it into the engine air intake, if it fires right up you have a failing fuel pump.

Does it crank over If no, then try jumping it from another car.
If yes it cranks but doesn't fire up, try spraying a small squirt of starting fluid into the air intake. If it fires up then dies it is a fuel problem. Very likely low on fuel or fuel pump circuit.
If it cranks but doesn't start with starting fluid there is a problem in the ignition-spark system.

try quick start straight into air intake or air filter housing while turning over <if it fires up for a few seconds its a fueling problem ,if not more than likely a spark related problem

How many miles on the car? Have you checked the fuel pressure when it doesn't want to start? Do that first and then move on from there. To quickly test fuel pressure with no special equip get a can of starting fluid from the auto parts store, when it fails to start spray the fluid into the air intake of the engine well it is cranking, if it fires up then the fuel pump is likely not running on for some reason. This can be electrical in nature or just a failed electric fuel pump

Safer is to use 'carburetor cleaner' which is also flammable but a little less dangerous than using gasoline.After sitting a long time, our modern gasoline gets tired; never allow something to sit so long without adding some 'fuel stabilizer.'If possible with your car, I would drain (siphon) the tired gas out and replace it with a few gallons of fresh.
Really tough starting problems can also be overcome with 'starting fluid' which is pure ether and very flammable.Any of these may require the removal of the engine air filter so the liquid gets into the intake manifold.
Stale gasoline can also gum up the fuel injectors which may have to be removed for service if none of the fluids causes the engine to fire.

1990 grand marquis has 40 psi to fuel rail. Injectors dont seem to open. Car wount start. Car starts and runs when fuel is sprayed directly into intake.

A lot of cars, trucks, SUV's, Toyota 4x4's will not start , until COMPLETELY assembled. I have left off just the last air boot between the filter & intake throttle body, & NOTHING. Then sprayed a touch of "starting fluid" & Varooom. It came to life. I checked fuel rail, it checked out, still nothing. I gort angry, had picked up the vehicle cheap, for a quick "flip" for some extra money while the wife was hospitalized. I didn't have any more time to fool with it. Put the boot back on between the filter & throttle body. Put a For Sale sign on it. Turned the turn the whell to roll it down into the yard, & it fired & ran. After scratching my head a while, I took the boot off, NOTHING ELSE, no start.sure it is completely assembled.

Won't start turns over but won't start

spray directly into the air intake, remove the air filter first, with quick start. if the engine starts, this means u have a fuel problem,which points to the fuel pump in the gas tank. if the engine still wont start when u spray it then it is a no fire! i would tune it up with sparkplugs and plug wires and distributer cap, and coil and rotor. also check for timing? this useually does it!

I live in canada and when the temp drops below -15c my car doesn't want to start. It will crank really good for 5 to 10 minutes but it doesn't want to fire. any sugestions?

Maybe the crank sensor doesn't send a signal to the computer so that it can fire up the spark plugs and give fuel.

Test for fuel delivery by spraying starting fluid into the intake and seeing if it starts that way. If it does, then there's a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't then there is likely an ignition problem.

Running extremely lean. Did you replace the 02 sensors? They detect lean and rich conditions and if the previous problem was too rich, the 02 sensors may have set ecu to run lean because of their problem. Now converters are free flowing and the settings should have again adjusted itself if the 02 sensors haven't flaked out. Overheating is and a fire hazard.destrucive to a converter and as hot as you say they are getting is not good. Do this, in the intake ducting is a sensor call a maf sensor. It's in a metal section. See how dirty it is. Then buy a spray can of CRCelectrical cleaner and spray wash the sensor thoroughly. Do not touch, rub, or brush the sensors, Just rinse dirt away with spray. The sensor is delicate, sensitive and very expensive to replace. DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR! The spray will dry quickly. Good Luck and make sure you have a clean air filter.
