Could be one of three things: Low on power steering fluid loose belt do to a weak belt tensioner or the power steering pump itself.

Yes this sounds like the power steering. In fact FORD is notorious for power steering noise after a while. Often you can add fluid to the reservoir and quieten it down but usually when they start making noise they continue. That's usually it though. The pumps are tough and don't usually fail until the noise gets very loud. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: Loud squealing noises when I turn the wheel of my 2000 ford range

It sounds like the power steering belt is too loose, tighten it up a bit but not too much just enough to make slipping belt stop.

SOURCE: Loud humming noise

The power steering pump humms when it has gone bad.

You need to replace or service it incase there is a blockage due to dirt in the transmission oil compartment.

Costs not so much.

Rate this please.

SOURCE: driving down the road a loud humming noise is

I don't thing so, listen carefully the next time you are driving and see if you can hear what side it is on, If you identify a side the most lightly problem would be the wheel baring (runs through the centre of the hub). If it is the bearing, it will get progressivley worse and will need to be replaced. Good luck!

check the power steering fluid level and there shouldn`t be any air in the system that will show as bubbles or foam in the oil.the oil should be clean and not look like a grey or silver colour.

When I turn the corner or turn the steering wheel, my car makes a loud humming noise, what is that noise and how do I get rid of it?

the now is your power steering pump. check your power steering fluid and refill if necessary. if fluid is full then you may just have a clogged or damged power steering hose.

My car makes a loud humming noise while driving when turning left. its fine while going straight or right. Wheel bearing?

Possible. If you have changed tires lately, make sure they put the right size tires on. If they went up in size by any measure, it could be rubbing on the tire well and thus making the noise. Check the users manual if you have it and check to make sure the tire sizes are correct. Also check your power steering fluid. That would make a humming or moaning noise but it would be noticeable while turning.

When i start my 1997 expedition i get a loud humming noise what is this

Most likely this is your power steering pump - check the fluid and listen again.

The ford power steering pumps are known for a loud noise and even new ones make plenty of noise - especially when you turn the wheels. Keeping them full of fluid helps them be a little quieter.

Could be either a loose belt or you are low on power steering fluid,or the power steering pump could just be worn out.

Steering Wheel noise on cold start

this is either a loose belt, or low power steering fluid. Remember that Honda uses a diffrent power steering fluid from everyone else. Make sure it is a Honda compatable fluid, or you will get leaks.
