Starter doesn't run long enough for my car to start. It only turns twice; I need at least three rev's. How do I adjust starter run time?

The starter run time is non adjustable. It should turn over as long as you hold the key in the start position

Loses fuel prime. need to cycle the key twice to get it to start right away. otherwise it turns over at least 10 times before it starts. Fuel pump replaced recently.

check all your fuel lines it sounds like you have a leak. i would be willing to bet whoever installed that fuel pump either did not clamp the transfer line from pump to inlet tube or hose is"nt sealing from pump to inlet tube...

Hi, You need a new ignition key fitting & if you do the job your self be very sure you have the correct ignition fitting for the vehicle & change one wire at a time so you don't cause further problems. Please leave me feed back: Malcolm Campbell, Thanks.

Your problem is the Crankshaft sensor Ford had some problems with these it is located on the front of the motor by the Harmonic balancer

Starting the 1st time the key is turned.

I had a similar problem with my 2001 Tribute. I changed the spark plugs and the problem went away. I had about 160K miles on the original spark plugs.

Need to reset after battery replacement, key will not turn

I hope you're able to get into your car because it sounds like the system needs to be reprogrammed.

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

2001 Sebring won't start

I had same problem when I had a plain copy of the key made.
There's a proximity chip in the factory key or something, but the plain copy would not work. Engine would crank, then immediately stop. I didn't need the extra key bad enough to spend $80+ at the dealership.

Ran it out of gas,now wont start

Turn the key without starting the engine, you should hear the fuel pump engage. Do this a few times to prime the engine. If it still doesn't start, spray "starting fluid", available at parts store, into your throttle body. It should start now.
