Question about 2005 Lincoln LS
My husband recently got gas from a new station in town. Afterwards my car started running like it had water in the gas. We were focusing on that as the problem but after he got gas treatment and running high octane gas in the car for about a week the problem never stopped. It was sputtering and would barely stay cranked while stopping. The a/c started blowing hot air when all this started and sometimes the windows wouldn't roll up. They would go half way up and go back down. It sat up for about a week. Was headed to the shop one day and noticed the oil light blinked on then off. Only went about a mile and went back home. Checked oil and had none so I added 4 qts. I took it into the shop the next day, making sure the oil was still in it before I started it and it was. I was thinking that a tune up would fix the problem but was informed that i needed a new engine. On the way there I had a cloud of white smoke following me. It has 100,000 miles mostly highway. Does this sound like the engine is gone? I had a coil (I think thats what it was.. Know it had something to do with a spark plug and the plug wiring) changed a couple months ago because it had been missing and having a hard time going uphill. Was told that instead of doing a complete tune up at that time we would just change them as they went out. Does that sound like a normal thing to do?
White smoke sounds like either ingesting transmission fluid through a vacuum ,or a blown head gasket.those cars have coils and yes they go bad.you need to do a compression test and see if the head gasket is gone.low compression can also cause a misfire by not burning the fuel properly.
