IF THE KEY NOT TURNING IN IGNITION,THAT COULD BE WORN KEY,OR WORN THUMBLERS IN IGNITION LOCK. ALWAYS PULL OUT THE IGN.KEY W/WHEELS IN STRAIGHT AHEAD POSITION.(STEERING WHEEL IN 0 POZITION). THIS WAY THE STWHEEL LOCK IT IS NOT UNDER LOAD. IF NOT WORKING,DEALER ITEM IGNITION LOCK. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: how to replace the ignition key in my 2005 bmw 645ci

this can be very difficult to do you must make sure the baterry for the vehicle is disconnected you must remove the casing around the location of the ignition key barrel and there should be a few little pins holding the cylinder in itself with a plug attached be advised though some vehicles with electronic keys may crank over but not run without reprogramming the computer because the car may read the new key set up as someone trying to steal the car just make sure the battery is unhooked this is very important

SOURCE: i have remote key for bmw x5 and no functions are

Here is link on how to reprogram your key. The newer BMWs recharge the key battery while it is in the ignition so there is no battery to replace. Good luck.

SOURCE: I just go locked out of my X5 BMW 2002 x5 and my

right i had this ***** of a problem 2nd week in jan 2010. a bmw mechanic told to jack car up at front and hook a jumper pack up to live on starter motor terminal and then earth, was quite hard to put croc clip on to starter but did manage it. this was supposed to back charge to battery to get enough power to open car with remote, in theory it should of worked but i gave up after 3 hours-no power. so i got my key put it in drivers door and mechanically turned to open position, then i got a cutlery knife from kitchen and wrapped some insulation tape around tip up 2-3 inches. then i pushed this down glass directly above door handle key end to pry a gap between glass and rubber just enough to slide coat hanger wire in with small hook on end then i manouvered wire hook until i hooked latch arm which i did within 1 minute pulled coathanger wire up and pulled door handle the door opened much to my delight. this was a major sigh of relief after trying for 2 days to get in, and many hours searching the net for a solution which i couldnt find. THIS WORKS 100 percent WITH ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE!!!!!!! any questions email me- [email protected]

Why wont my ignition key go into the ignition of my bmw x5 the remote locking works fine but the key will not go into the ignition its as if there is something blocking the key

Hi Keith

Sometimes the stearing lock comes on and sticks, try getting hold of the steering wheel and pull down to the left a bit at a time and at the same time try to put key in, or you can wobble the wheel as you are trying to put key in this also sometimes works...hope that helps

Ignition key won t turn

The ignition key won't turn likely because the shifter linkage that locks the key in OFF is worn or loose. Move the shifter linkage hard to the Park position and the key will turn. Have the linkage adjusted and the worn parts replaced

BMW X5 2007 key is stuck in the ignition and the car will not start. We already tried charging the batteries and still would not release the key.

OMG, I want to thank you all for your information. I was looking for any information I could find on how to get the key out of the ignition on my BMW 330 CI. My key would not come out of the ignition. I would have to put the car in park, turn off the key and then push the knob more into the Park position. I thought the coin blog would be to easy. I went outside, removed the ashtray and low and behold, there is a quarter in there. I was so excited. The key now comes out without and issues. Thanks again for your information.

Why won't my ignition key turn over and my steering wheel is locked in place at the sametime?

I'm assuming you mean your key wont turn in the ignition. first off check to make sure the car is in park. then what you gotta do is put in the key and put a little pressure as if turning but dont turn too hard, then even though the steering wheel is locked you will have to try to move it a little, if you parked with your tires turned then you will want to try to turn the wheel in the same direction, (even locked you should be able to move it about a half inch) you will have to turn the wheel hard but it should move enough to allow the key to turn, you may have to jiggle the key a little in the ignition but it should eventually turn, just remember not to try turning the key too hard, the extra force wont make it go but can cause the key to break. this tends to happen when you turn the car off andthe steering wheel gets locked if the wheels are turned hard in either direction. also if multiple attempts at this still dont work, try taking the key out and turning it over and trying again. Even though both sides of the key are identicle, because of wear on the key and the ignition, sometimes when the wheel locks the ignition, it will only turn if the key is put in a certain way. Hope this helps, good luck

Stuck eldorado key in DTS ignition now car won't start

Make sure your steering wheel isn't locked. Sometimes a key won't turn until you jiggle the wheel while trying to turn the key.

I put th key in the ignition and it will not turn. Headlights come on, can't turn the wheels they are in a straight foward position.

Not a lot of info here. I am assuming you are saying you can't turn the key in the lock. If the steering wheel is under pressure (can happen even with the wheels straight ahead) the lock mechanism can be putting pressure on the key making it very hard for the ley to release the lock mechanism. Try pulling on the wheel in one direction and turning the key. If nothing, try turning the wheel the other direction and try turning the key. You may need to replace the lock mechanism. This usually involves being able to turn the key in the lock or having to drill the lock. You are probably going to need a locksmith for this one but at least that is cheaper than going to the BMW shop. Of course you are not completely free of BMW because if the locksmith has to punch the lock, you will need to get a replacement.

Complete Car ignition lockout

You either dropped your key and bent the teeth or your wheel is turned so far its locked very, very hard. Try this with caution. Turn the wheel even farther, almost like your trying to break the wheel in the same turned direction the wheels are now and then while holding the wheel with all your strength in that direction try to turn the key again!

Should work.
