Instament cluster not working on 95 jeep cherokee

My battery was replaced recently and it was instaled backwards (- to +) and it blew my alternator and sevreal fuses. i replaced the alt and all the fuses but the fuse that goes to the instrament cluster (number 10 fuse) keeps blowing when i replace it. what do i do? is my wireing or cluster bad? i think that if it was the cluster that it wouldnt blow the fuse it just wouldnt work so im leaning towards the wireing being out/

Everything else works fine its just the cluster that doesnt. why would a fried cluster keep blowing the fuse though? iv read about changing the cluster and any cluster from a 91to a 96 will work and it will make it so i dont have to have idiot switchs anymore.

ill try the cluster and let you know what happens.

    thanks for the help!!

You need to replace the cluster if you can find the "exact" model in a junk yard with "low" miles then get that one otherwise it might be best to buy new and you need to have the "body control module" checked. all widows and doors work? have it checked but your cluster is fried.

Hey I have a 94 Grand jeep Cherokee Larodo I was wondering what the code list was or where to find it. I think it may have to do with the alternator as my battery charge is low, and it recently blew the...

You can find a code list in either chilton or haynes manuals. You can get them at most larger parts stores. While there, have your charging system and battery tested (most do that free). If necessary you can also have your codes scanned (also most times free).
If you do that it's likely you will have a good idea what needs to be fixed!

No you can't just replace the round part you have to replace the entire assembly and there is no trick to replacing it, It's really an easy job.

99 jeep cherokee sport 4.0l 6cyl voltage will go to 19v

The problem sounds intermittent, if you put volt meter on the battery while it is at that 19volt mark/reading(on the gauge cluster) you will be able to see if it is true. If your alternator is really charging over 16volts the lights should be getting brighter then usual and/or they are burning out. Find out ASAP, if the alternator has a defective voltage regulator, it needs to be replaced. Prolong use will damage components.

1988 jeep 4.0 battery installed backwards now cranks but wont start

have you checked all ofyour fuses? usually when you hook up a battery backwads you end up blowing a fuse and or fry your alternator on older modeled vehicles as there is no protection for it.

Jeep cannot hold a charge

This happened to me once, but that guy that put my battery in crossed the wires and blew a bunch of fuses. I thought it was my alternator but it wasn't. I removed it and tested it, it was fine. Make sure you double check before buying expensive things. Anyways, it was just a fuse, I can't be sure which one it was exactly but I replaced 3 of them. Two #60 fuses (which I'm assuming were the problem because they were fuses for the alternator) and another one that I can't remember now. Anyways, if your having a problem like this replace all your fuses first, all of them together would only cost about 15 bucks. If the problem persist remove your alternator to test it because you'll get a more accurate reading this way. If its not your alternator or fuses, I don't know.
