Saab 9-3 car trouble

My check engine light came on and so did the TCS Off light, and there is a rattling coming from under the hood that sounds bad.

That could be a lot of things. have you checked your oil level lately? does the sound get worse or better under certain conditions? like maybe go away when you turn left or right? one of the parts that will wear out and need replaced on your car is the constant velocity (cv) joints. when they are failing they make quite a racket. although they sound awful they are really not all that hard to replace and not nearly as expensive as engine repairs or transmission work. they are just a regular wear item that has to be replaced every so many miles in front drive cars. hope that helps

Tcs and check engine lights came on while driving, then cruise control and smell of anti-freeze or oil comes thru when heater/air blowing on

Go to an auto parts store to get the code(s) read for free from the OBD. That will likely explain the Check Engine light (emissions related).

Also sounds like the screws weren't torqued enough (or Loc-tite not applied) by your repair mechanic.

Recall that radiator water (and anti-freeze) is what circulates in the heater core. Hopefully it is just a leaky core and turning off the heat (or shutting of that water circuit) will eliminate the smell.

Are you losing radiator water? That would be a tip-off.

Have you checked for water in the engine oil? Bad news if that's the problem.

My "Check Engine Light" has gone on periodically

From what you are describing i feel you might be having an bad EGR valve..It only causes the rough idle and shaking and fuel smell in exhaust..It can also cause back firing. Does it happen? Also do you hear any popping noise from exhaust?

1999 saab 95 speedometer not working, abs and check engin light comes on

You will need to have your car's ECM (Computer) read by a OBD II scanner to determine what Trouble Code your ECM is giving so a mechanic can properly diagnose the problem. You can go to your local AutoZone store and they can pull the codes out of your ECM for no charge.

ABS and TCS lights come on, odometer and speedometer stop working

You can fix this yourself, in a couple of hours with basic hand tools. You will need a rebuilt ABS module. Try this link for an under $500 repair. The dealer will want $2800, + labor.

Alll Emergency Warnings Light up on dashboard at the same time

An oxygen sensor will not cause this. Is the car is not a sport sedan, the abs module is likely bad.
