2006 dodge durango stalls at slow speeds loss of power

When driven at slow speeds 5.7 hemi stalls. Doesn't sputter doesnt jump or ****. Just dies. loss of power bad gas miliage worse than normal. about 14 on average hwy. changed spark plugs at 30 miles did average driving and regular oil changes. Now speeding up takes an act of god and there is virtually no horse power. It could bearly tow another vehical on a tow dolly from ky to ca. like i said 2008 v8 2wd 5.7 hemi. and it drives like a crappy geo. checked all fluids and thinking about why the loss in power. any ideas? thanks

I have a 2004 dodge durango 5.7l with the hemi, won't start

I would start by checking the basics which are checking for spark and fuel. If you have a gauge, check to see if you have fuel pressure when the key is turned on. If you have fuel pressure, check for spark. Chrysler products are known for the crank shaft sensor to go bad and cause a no start. Also, if driving for a certain period with the pedal depressed at the same speed, the throttle position sensor will stay at that position if stuck and will cause either and driveability problem or stalling. You may wanna look into replacing or at least checking that. Good luck.

Engine dies when stopping or turning slow. Intermediate chugging

Try pulling I A C (idle air control) motor & cleaning it good with throttle body cleaner , as well as port it came out of . These quite often get gummed up at pintle of motor (pointed part) and shaft, which cause it to stall etc on corners, under load etc. It maintains proper idle under these conditions. If it cures it only for a while & starts to do the same again, change the IAC motor. They never, or very rarely store a code, so it isn't something that comes to mind very often unless experienced with symptoms.

2001 Dodge Durango will start from a jump.

replace the battery, on a dodge when battery is weak the idle air control solenoid tries to search for the right position. and will keep stalling sometimes wont stay running.

99 Dodge Durango Dies When Slowing

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
