Question about 1998 Buick Regal

1 Answer

No start 1998 Regal 3.8 Supercharged

Will turn over but will not start. OBD 11 code reader says multple cylinder random missfire. Car has 117,000 miles. Was told timing belt was redone. Auto-zone says this is a coils, plugs and plug wire problem according to the code. Is this a good place to start or not? Is this a non-interference engine?
Thank You for any help you can give me!

2005 chevy avio P0300 random missfire

That code is of no use to you

You need all codes related to all cylinder
ignition coil issues

Google the code (OBD PO300)

You need PO301 thru 304 or 6

What is a p0300 code

I found on line that the p300 coad is a random missfire in all cylinders and that the last number in a p300 code is the cylinder that is misfiring. Your p302 & p303 would be #2&3 cylinders.

I have a 99 regal 3.8 supercharged car starts then dies. it loosing power to the fuel pump. have replaced fuel pump and ignition switch because i thought there was a prob with security system.i am realy...

It does sound like you have a passkey (security) issue. If the BCM does not recognize the key cylinder code the BCM will send a comand to the PCM to shut down the fuel system.
When you say you replace the "ignition switch", was it the switch or the tumbler.
If the tumbler was replaced you will have to relearn the key code.
Let me know if the key tumbler was replaced and I will tell you how to relearn the key code.
Regards.

I have a KIA Sportage T reg petrol 2.00L and it is missfiring/chugging I hear this may be a common problem vcan you suggest anything Thanks

Misfire issues can generally be categorized as localized or random.A localized misfire in my definition would occur on at most two specific cylinders. In OBD II diagnostic code terms, that would be 2 trouble codes of the form P030x and P030y.; whereas a code P0300 or several different codes P030a, b, c, etc. would indicate a random misfire issue. These two different categories of misfire call for different troubleshooting procedures. In each case, however, the cause of the misfire can be electrical or air/fuel related and can also be continuous or intermittent.I will start with the localized case, so if you have a random misfire, please skip ahead to that section of the post. My 1995 Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder 2.7 liter automatic 4wd is missfireing on three of the four cylinders. The miss fire is very random happening more and more frequently. I have good compression and timing....

Pull codes from OBD computer go from there. Could be other problems, check fuel pressure, All electrical connectors- loose, water, dirty, ground connections, etc. Could be a failing sensor. How do you know its missfiring on 3-4? one or two cylinders would be a really bad shake. Creek is to deep stay out of creek. Good luck!
