Most likely their is a loose connection in the radio harness. One of the wires in this harness sends power to the back light on the radio. It has become loose or disconnected. Assuming no other lights are out and nobody has been cutting wires to install an aftermarket radio. If other lights are not working then check your fuses.

i took the radio out and checked all harnesses. i will need a code to get the radio on, but i am believing even with a code i will not be able to see anything with a bulb blown out!

The radio may have an internal bulb that has burned out. Other possibility is the wire controlling the lights on the harness is bad or not making contact. Try cleaning the harness, check the wires and connections.

SOURCE: NEEED FUSE FUSE BOX LAYOUT FOR 2003 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN

I'm not sure about the fuse box layout on that model, but I do have a tip for finding fuse related problems. Get a cheap test light and connect the alligator clip to the negative battery terminal. Roll the key to the RUN position ( do not start). Look carefully at the fuses while they are plugged in. You should see a little silver tab on both sides of the top of each fuse. Touch one with the probe of your test light. It should light up. Now touch the other side. If it doesn't light up on both, the fuse is blown. If it doesn't light up on either side, then there is no power getting to the fuse and you'll have to do more digging, but it may be normal. Some circuits are only energized under specific conditions.

My 2003 jeep grand cherokee's radio works but the d isplay quit an the fues are fine

You have bulbs inside the radio that burn out. If you are brave, you can take it out and disassemble, or just get a new radio at the salvage yard.

No power to cd player or ceiling light grand vitara 2003

fuse, called dome fuse is blown, or radio fuse.
fuses that look bad, are, fuses that look good, may be...........
check fuses with an ohmmeter, fuses that look good can have very tiny cracks and are not good, only an ohmmeter works, on fuses with 100% accuracy. (a volt meter works in circuit even better !!!)
Did you test the dome lamp to see if it really works?
pull it , put across 12v battery ,does it glow?
did you look at the radio. and see if it has its own inline fuse?
did you hot wire the radio power wire to see if the radio even works at all?
if you have DMM with voltmeter this is so very easy to trace.
ask.

2002 Jeep grand cherokee the radio is working but will not light up, can the light be change ancd where is it in the radio.

I have an AM/FM/Tape/CD player of about that vintage on the shelf that was in my 95 Dakota(RIP-sniffle).It has about 10 tiny bulbs in it that would go out 1 at a time(hey I only paid 20 bucks for the radio at Carlisle!)The dealer was no help for these bulbs(you'll have to pull the radio out and remove the faceplate)I had to take the bulbs out of the little base, and replace them with a TINY 12v bulb from Radio Shack. They did make a major shape change-I think for the 2003 model year-which annoyed the HELL out of me,since up till then a 2002 radio woulf fit in a 1976 model(with some rewiring)The only thing that I dont get is that the whole thing doesnt light up (I was assuming you meant the illumination for nighttime)

2003 Mercury Grand Marquis GS Radio just stopped working, but the CD player still works fine. I checked the (2?) fuses to the radio and they were o.k. What could be causing my problem? Thanks for any...

This is a common problem with this radio. I purchased a used 2003 Grand Marquis and the radio stopped working after a few days. I checked all the usual problems such as faulty antenna and connections. I then looked on line and many others have the same problem with this radio. The only advice is to purchase a used radio from salvage yard the same as the one you have now or you can also go with a good aftermarket radio for around the same price as you are going to pay for a used radio. A used radio would require just removing the radio which is a snap, and then plugging in the replacement radio using the same connections. An after market radio will require adapters and splicing wires. I chose putting in an aftermarket JVC radio and I really enjoy the sound and being able to play cd/mp3's and my ipod through the radio.

You will need to pull the clock, the bulb is on the back, any parts store will carry it, it is a mini peanut bulb.
