Question about 2002 Nissan Xterra

2 Answers

I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra - I received an estimate from a mechanic who said I need to replace a sensor in the AC unit area b/c it is blowing some cold but mainly hot air. Is it difficult to access this sensor? Just wondering if I could do the job myself.

A Chiltons/Hanes repair manual for this Xterra will have the A/C schematics you need. When you replaced those parts did you re-charge the system? You may have a refrigerant leak.

2000 Nissan Xterra Service Engine soon indicator is always on

The knock sensor is not a huge deal to replace and will not turn on the light. It should be dont though.

The crankshaft sensor is located directly between the engine and transmission. It is dead center at the bottom.

Nissan xterra knock sensor

It's the valley of the engine underneath the intake manifold. It's about an $800 job because the top of the engine has to come off. However, unless you have a supercharged xterra it shouldn't effect performance. Also, the knock sensor will not trip the check engine light, as it does not indicate a primary problem, so if your light is on you should have another code that should be fixed first.
